Try not to buy stuff directly from the store. At least for now, you can get everything for half the price or less if you exchange beans for credits and buy stuff from the market.

I think the price for red beans will drop a lot after launch when a ton of new players try selling them to buy stuff, buuuuut I might be wrong, haven't spent a ton of time with the market.

I was going to say Dreadnaught, but I changed my mind. Play Recon. Then you won't be sick of the Dreadnaught class once you unlock the Mammoth.

Seriously. I looked at how much a 7-day VIP pass was going on the market. 2500 credits. The current red bean to credit ratio is 1:180. That means it is only 14 red beans ($1.75) on the market, compared to Red 5's standard of 40 ($5). The people in this game just loooove to sell their poo poo for next to nothing.

EDIT: Seems the price dropped since this morning. It is 1:150 now, which puts prices at 17 beans ($2.125). I wonder where it will bottom out at. If you want to sell red beans, now is the time before it gets even lower.

EDIT: Looks like the price of a 7-day VIP on the market also fell to 2100. It's back to 14! The race to the bottom continues.

I spent some time with a few of you running ARES quests in DT with low-level frames; at 30-50k XP each with another 100k every time an incursion shows up, it's a pretty good show for rapid levelling, albeit difficult.

I haven't tried since my first time around, but it looked like the only substantial rewards were the resources. (I captured a watchtower and I think I only got XP.) You can only use Short Range Thumpers, which you pick up at bases, so I assume they're sized appropriately for a team of 20. (Or for the team of 20 that can capture the base afterwards and get the resources.)

I scanned around and found blue resources at 25-30%. Didn't see any greens, and I assume there's purple stuff around.

The current market situation motivated me to go ahead and buy another advanced battleframe (in addition to my Firecat, Tigerclaw, and Raptor) while they're cheap, and based on many goonful recommendations I opted for the Mammoth. Just from the casual messing around with it I've done so far, I can tell that was an excellent decision, in that it plays completely differently than any of my existing classes, and does so while being immensely fun in its own right. Got my first three levels by calling down squad 2 thumpers outside Copa and wading through the sea of low-level spawns that result, tanking damage and hosing down everything in sight with an unending stream of glorious plasma. Not to mention that when gliding you can pretend to be an A10!

I also discovered the glorious effect of mosquito wings when gliding. Dive a little, pull up so you're pointing vertically, then pop them and you'll gain a ridiculous amount of altitude. If you're like me and have tons of them sitting in your inventory from random drops, they'll make for a great way to glide further, faster, longer, and higher whenever the whim takes you. Combine with firecat using inferno dash, afterburner, and burn jets, and you can probably just fly straight up. I wonder if the world has a ceiling...

Sadly, yes.

Oddly, it's not the same height everywhere. You'd think the world would be a giant box, but nooo... I was in a Travelcat going from Thump Dump to Sunken Harbor and ran into an invisible wall which caused me to stall. Further testing allowed me to discover that the ceiling is higher around Thump Dump and Sunken Harbor and lower in the middle near Copa / Trans Hub.

Yeah, so I unlocked Mammoth and Rhino from the market earlier today, because I was really enjoying the Dreadnaught. Only really played the Mammoth so far (Rhino was really cheap, like 4000 credits, so I figured why not) but man, it's such an improvement over the base Dreadnaught. I've still got about 6000 credits left over, and I'd like to turn it in to another frame while the price is dropping out of everything. I guess a Bastion one would be good for solo thumping, because holy poo poo turrets?

Melding was just pushed back a bit, I saw a big red thumper while exploring and decided to check it out. It had a cannon on top that killed me in half a second flat so you might want to keep clear of red thumpers.

Solo Bastion thumping isn't as great as it used to be. They massively nerfed the lifetime for all turrets.

Thanks for the advice, I jumped in for an hour earlier when lots of people were around and followed them around for an hour going between missions. Is it normal for 5 invasions in a row to pop in less than 2 minutes after the previous one just finished? I'm not complaining though, lots of good exp in a short amount of time.

A couple more questions for people who've played more recently than I have:
What's with the Chosen occasionally obliterating somebodies thump site? I saw at least 2 people today who had like 10 drop pods just ruin their thumper.
Whats the fastest way to earn crystite now? Tornado's still give a nice amount of resources, so...
Is there anywhere I can sell excess resources immediately for crystite, or is that all done through the market for credits now?
And is there any way to turn credits back into crystite so I can use it for research? Selling some easy to farm stuff on the market got me a load of credits, and it'd be good to use some of it for more research.

This happens with squad thumpers sometimes. In my experience it's like a third of the time, and I'm not sure if it's intended because every time it's happened to me it's been a squad wipe. Maybe it's just in there as random chance to discourage squad thumping with less than 5? Don't know.

So I started fresh last night and finished the tutorial mission with Oilspill. Problem is that when it spawned me back in the open world I found myself immediately stuck inside of a dropship. I obviously was not supposed to be inside since the textures looked black and weird.

How do I get unstuck? Relogging did nothing. Remaking the character didn't fix it either.

It is intended. In my experience, it's closer to 50%. I base that on all the S3 thumpers I dropped on Copa the other night. I was leaning towards 75% Chosen wave but then it started to get normal again. I've dropped or been part of about a dozen squad thumpers recently and really like the change. The changes to difficulty and payout for squad thumpers makes way more sense now.

/stuck and then wait for five seconds without doing anything. It normally spawns you outside of the dropship when you finish the mission in the same place you were standing when you went in. Were you standing on top of something like a box? The drop ship itself?

Mostly the latter but there's supposed to be an actual reputation mechanic that it uses to put you on one of the 4 factions in OWPVP. There's not a way to see what your reputations are right now that I know of.

What are the rewards for a squad thumper now? I haven't had the opportunity to do any thumpers since the patch. I did get to try the new melding tornado pocket in Devil's Tusk, and I got about 1100 green and 1100 blue ore from running around inside of it. I thought that was a pretty good haul.

Man, it is so boring now. People found a spot where a Chosen Thumper continuously spawns and the entire stupid instance spawn camps it for 15 titanium (blue) ore each time. I've been running around in my level 30 Arsenal soloing all of Devil's Tusk because nobody is doing anything anymore. I even soloed an entire Delirium Engine event at level 30, only dieing once by mistake.

They're missing out. This means the free Baneclaw raid is available. We should get on that.

Also, the next stage of the push back will never happen if people don't get out and get the infused dark crystite.

Nalin, I don't have the numbers in front of me right now but if memory serves, a stock squad thumper has a higher yield than a heavy personal. It's just not useful for anything other than iron. It scales up from there.

How does one determine a good area for thumping? The area around Northern Shores seems to be insanely popular for it right now and I am not sure why. Could be the regular crashed thumper/mgv events that also spawn close to the tower but people just seem to thump nonstop there.

Also Chosen showing up is awesome when there are plenty of people around. I love the constant random events because they are actually worth doing. Thumping also seems to give good xp but is a bit slower than events if sonewhat more predictable.

As for getting a hoverbike, my understanding is you either buy one off the market/red bean store, or you make an average one as part of a quest at 25.

Really, anywhere that has the resource you want. The best spots are places that can be defended and can limit the approach to the thumper. If you place your thumper against a wall, it limits the angles that enemies can attack your thumper from. Placing against a rock can cause groups to path around the rock, which gives you extra time to kill them. It is also possible that the enemies that spawn in the region are easier than enemies in a different region.
