ManOfTheYear posted:I was checking out the top selling indie games and I found a game called Sakura Spirit. It looks like the worst creepy poo poo Japan has to offer. Is it really as bad as it looks like? Yes it is, and the fact that it's selling is an indictment of the gaming community. If you must have a game with anime chicks, I'd suggest Sunrider- it's free and has mechs! It's vastly unfinished though, and has one NSFW scene late on.

Accordion Man posted:They don't kill themselves, Havelock poisoned Pendleton and Martin. It is anti-climatic, but I kind of like the fact that they realize their plan to gently caress over Corvo was an awful idea because Corvo is far beyond them in power and Havelock just resigns himself to his death. Yeah, this is why I prefer the subtlety of the low-chaos ending to the cinematics of the high chaos one. It's just so... quiet, and yet still shows Corvo as a force to be reckoned with.

And so is Magical Diary. I also like the Sunrider beta access, but mostly because it has mechs. It has some naughty scenes in it (but hey, mechs), so if that's not your bag, pass it up. EDIT: That said, if you want your kawaii uguugames, there's the Ys series and Trails in the Sky.

He's got a point though- don't get me wrong, Sunrider's probably my second-most anticipated game (laugh track), but it really is unfinished right now, with some objectionable elements. That said, it's free, has mechs, well-executed if typical anime art, mechs, genuinely tactical and enjoyable combat, mechs, what seems to be an interesting storyline, and did I mention mechs? Anyway, all this Gauntlet talk is making me want to get the game- anything you'd recommend to a newbie?

Thing about Choice of Games is that they don't have a single writer contributing- instead, people use their CYOA software to write their own stuff, then CoG sells them. It's why we get drek like Choice of heroes, all the way to good stuff like Tin Star or Mecha Ace.

Gallia's always had a policy of national service (again, think Switzerland), so it's plausible that your dudes know the shooty end of the rifle from another, but it's a nice bit of attention to detail.

Outside of that there's the unlockable enemy weapons from defeating named special enemies, but most of them are garbage anyway. I've generally noticed that Imp weapons do much more damage, at the cost of range. Since I usually engage from the next planetary system, they are worthless to me, but if you're the gung-ho sort, then their machine guns might prove useful.

Normal game Ace weapons can be great- if you've got the right person for them. Imperial machine guns are wonderful for Stormtroopers like Jane (whose Strong Will lets her get up close and personal) and Wendy (who's got Phoenix- basically a chance of resurrection); they can get up close and shred enemy squads, especially if backed up by the proper orders. Agent355 posted:Lost dream is a RPGmaker game that I put over 100 hours into. It's full to the brim of sidequests and collectibles and special challenges and it keeps track of all of them right in the game menus. Having a happy little tally that tells you how many treasure chests you have left to find on the entire continent is very satisfying. It also comes with it's own pretty high quality strategy guide for when you forget where you're supposed to go (which can happen). Oooh, this sounds good. Anywhere to download it though? So I bit the bullet and bought the new 40K game, and drat is it good. Even on the easiest setting it can be a little challenging at times, since you're often facing several large waves of troops (or I'm a terrible commander ), so I'm going to try bump the difficulty up a notch or two, see how it goes. The V/A can get a little dodgy here and there, but it seems solid enough, so points for presentation down too.

I'm not sure I'll ever have the time to make anything useful with it, but I'm pretty excited to see what other people come up with. Some posts by Slitherine folks make it sound like the game is entirely moddable and people could easily load in their own art for any units not in the game -- hopefully this does well enough that some brave souls start putting out mods with Eldar, Tyranids, etc. Not yet, having too much fun driving the xeno scum off Armageddon (VON STRAAAHD ). ...can I give myself a Titan to start with? Because I want a Titan. I'll play every mission on my lonesome if I have to, so long as I can do it in a Titan.
