He got a decent amount of playing time last year while Roddy and Julio were injured. He did pretty well for a UDFA.

The Falcons perennial 4th string WR is on the PUP right now, so this is just confusing as gently caress. I really hope they're not rolling with Devin Hester at WR4.

Consider what Peyton Manning made Knowsean Moreno look like after a year? TRich would look like AD if Indy would hire some loving WR's for Luck to throw ball at.

Andrew Luck has noted Good Wide Receiver Reggie Wayne to throw to and they just signed Hakeem Nicks. TY Hilton is pretty okay too.

Edit: Looking it up yeah I guess Wayne did get early. Huh, I have no idea why I thought the injury was near the end of the season.

Tidbits from Niners camp: Vance McDonald looks a lot better than last year so far and Jimmie Ward is impressing a lot of people. Vic Fangio said that Brock and Culliver are the starting corners for now and Culliver doesn't look like somebody who's been off the field for a year. He also said that the Niners' increased DL rotation last year was a function of Justin Smith's nagging shoulder injury (which he got fixed in the offseason) rather than a change in organizational philosophy. So it looks like we might be going back to Aldon(slash Aldon's replacement while he's suspended, presumably Lemonier)/Justin/Ray/Ahmad playing 95%+ of snaps this year. Fangio also was notably dodging questions on who's leading the battle to play alongside Willis while Bowman's out.

So far at Vikings camp, Bridgewater and Cassel have completed about the same percentage of passes in 11-on-11 exercises, although three of Bridgewater's incompletes seem like they were because the receivers ran the wrong route, which makes sense given Bridgewater's apparent magnitude of training in Madden. Also, Cassel had three swatted down.

Ponder was 1/11 in 11-on-11.

Meanwhile, an actual exchange between Mike Zimmer and a reporter earlier today:

Reporter: Did you have butterflies taking the field for the first day of training camp as a head coach?
Zimmer: No.

Well okay but that hasn't been true in a long time, and generally continuing to play football is not a super great way to recover from chronic injury issues. I mean I like Luck so hopefully, but just saying they have Nicks and Wayne doesn't mean what it did a few years ago.

That's good to hear about McDonald. He was pretty stone-handsy when his name was called. I give him a pass when VD got hurt & he took over though because Kap was looking where VD would be, not where a normal-speed TE would be.

I have literally never heard of a player badmouthing Zimmer in the 5 years he coached for us. CB's actually a good position for the Vikes to be weak in cause Zimmer is amazing at getting iffy corners to play at a high level.

Training camp is when you get that (awesome) poo poo out of the way so you don't have to see it (maybe work) in the regular season.

Not all the time of course but every year there's a lot of stuff that gets talked about that never seems to be brought out once the games matter.
