Words and phrases change over time as they acquire new meanings and become laden with new baggage from use. Slang in particular can quickly turn from being descriptive to being outright hateful. I was talking about some shithead who I described as being an attention whore, and another person took great offense to it. It's not a nice phrase, but it's certainly not on the order of calling someone a "human being" a "friend of the family" or even a "stupid oval office." I'd liken it to calling someone a "shithead" or "drama queen." Has the language shifted in the past decade? Have Tumblr and the legion of SJW managed to make "whore" a word that's only for old white men?

to answer youre question op, i think it is problematic b/c it is an insinuation that seeking attention is just a desire for sex...some ppl do not get any attention who need it to reaffirm their sense of worth in an uncaring universe and thinking about that makes me sad some times. all humans want love and some are conditioned by their lots to conflate such w/ attn
