I've tried. I really have. I've tried to watch this show. I'm a nerdy type that enjoys Dungeons and Dragons, fantasy and sci fi literature, video games, all of it. It just isn't funny. Its predictable. Its formulaic. You can see the jokes coming from a mile away, and they aren't funny. "Hey Sheldon, what is this?" "It is the one ring to rule them all" *Laughtrack* What? WHere is the joke? Sheldon likes LoTR LOL AMIRITE GUYS? SO can someone explain to me where the humor is? That can't be right, though. Its a hugely popular show that keeps getting renewed for some reason. People hear I'm into D&D or roleplaying games and they are like OMG I like BBT, I'm a total nerd and GET EVERYTHING, no I haven't read the LOTR books, but the movies were great! Its not even about "nerd cred" though, its about the supposed comedy of an entire culture by virtue of that culture existing.

I was accepting a shipment on our loading dock once when the truck driver asks me "DO U LIKE BIG BANG THEORY" And I just said no because I hate the show but also I wanted to escape the conversation quickly. Then he gave me the answer: "HEH THOSE NERDS CAN FIGURE OUT A COMPUTERS BUT THEY CAN'T FIGURE OUT A WOMENS" Target demo hit, mission accomplished.
