I remember seeing an episode where they were all playing Halo and it was totally unbelievable that Sheldon would play any shooter other than some hardcore military simulator from Eastern Europe like ARMA or something. To be honest Sheldon seems like he wouldn't play any other game than Dwarf Fortress.

Eh hamming to the camera is kind of the same thing, but i feel like its less intrusive. Its like "Hey, get it??" and its usually in character and makes sense, given the context of the show being a "documentary". Laugh tracks make no sense.
