allegedly the first evil dead was a completely earnest attempt at horror, but when people liked it so much for how silly it was, they went tongue in cheek for the sequels

"The broken" was surprisingly good. It starts out slow paced and has Lena headly being skinny and hot and then goes off in a spooky direction I didn't see coming

The best horror movie is Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens.

i don't know if you were being sarcastic or not but it reminded me of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari which was pretty creepy and the fact that it was so old and all the actors are dead added to it i thought

it has to be original bc the celluloid had to be hand tinted

iirc, all versions of nosferatu come from a few found in a collection in buenos aires

Check out Pandorum if you haven't already. Surprised the hell out of me how not terrible it was. Also Sunshine.

The Descent owns bones, starts out real psychological horror like then takes a real different turn in genre, like Sunshine.

John Carpenter's The Thing is the best horror movie

Nightmare on Elm Street part 1. It's still scary and freaked out today as it was when it was released. No smart mouth talking Freddy; just good old creepy burned nightmare demon.

Also the Exorcist was a laugh. Maybe it's the atheist in me, but I found the exorcist to be laughably boring.
