Has anyone seen this movie called Sinister? It's not the Sinister you're probably thinking of.

Oh my god, finally I know what this movie is called. One of the many weirdo horror movies I watched in college with a bunch of drunk buddies and can only vaguely recall.

Some seriously excellent recommendations in this thread. I've seen a lot of horror movies but there are a few here I've never heard of and will definitely check them out.

I just watched The Mothman Prophecies because of this thread, and I have to say that anyone who thinks that this is a good horror movie, or even a horror movie full stop, is a colossal human being.

It's not even psychological horror. It's barely even a thriller. It's just a drama with a slight supernatural theme. I want those 2 hours of my life back.

Has anyone said The Hills Run Red, or Hatchet 1,2 and 3 yet? I can't remember

Does Triangle use the same twist as High Tension?

High tension was good but I dont see the need for a rehash.

No it might seem like it from the trailer, but there is SO MUCH MORE to Triangle than Haute Tension.

I just watched VHS; it was pretty bad to be honest. The first clip was pretty good, but the rest of them just had awful acting or just weren't that interesting. Though the last one was pretty amusing.

I forgot to mention that I was literally a small child when I last saw it and got all spooked. I think that explains why everyone in the thread keeps recommending crappy old movies from the 70s and 80s and poo poo. Makes you think...

VHS 2 has the best segment of both of them so you should still watch it.

Ya totes, it's not like I didn't enjoy it, but I wouldn't rank it anywhere in the realm of actually scary movies.

I liked the movie a lot as a kid, but I tried to rewatch it this year and a lot of the movie doesn't hold up well. Specifically the scene transitions are hilarious, Gere's performance was spotty, and the first act of the film was filled with an ocean of cliche's. I think if it had a better director, lead actor, and some small rewrites it would end up being a classic. As it is it's a bland to bad film with an occasional bright spot.

Horror or not, I've never been so scared of a movie since this one. I'm not sure what it is about that movie, but it still freaks me out when I think about it. It has just the right combination of weird, unexplained poo poo, and momentary flashes of "wtf was that?" that just kept me feeling uneasy.

Does anyone have suggestions of movies like this?

To add on what the other guy mentioned about David Lynch, you may want to try Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive. They might be too high on the unexplained poo poo, though. Watch with friends and figure them out together. Another movie like this would be Donnie Darko, but that is a bit more sane.
