Solaire is practically useless in the O&S fight.if you absolutely have to do it solo the easiest strat I-M-O is to get smough stuck on pillars while you deal with ornstein
Ya, I successfully defeated both smough, and ornstein, first many times, but always died on the second phase.

I think it didn't help that my best weapon is the lightning spear, and smough is resistant to that after he powers up.

this is pretty cheesedick but if you want you can kind of get the fat dude stuck on the pillars and wait for him to attack and poke him to death
