I only take special jobs, if you know what I mean.

Cloaked in the near anonymity of the little-known Harrin System, Harrin Central Station is a burgeoning Shadowport under the watchful eye of a man named Barra Rann. Itís a place where low-lives on a budget can gamble their money away, and a haven for most any illegal paraphernalia or dark secret one might want- for a price.

The problem is, you can only get lucky for so long, and anonymity wonít help when the Imperials come calling...

Today, a group of individuals have been vetted through their success in other criminal activities. After being found to have the proper skills, a mysterious employer has hired them to steal data securely tucked away in this little known space station and given them a location to meet the employer in person should they succeed.

At the same time, an operation of MAXIMUM IMPORTANCE is being undertaken by the Rebel Alliance. A ship containing extremely sensitive and highly sought after nav-data is being handed over to a spec-ops group in order to accomplish a TOP SECRET mission. Harrin Central Station was chosen due to its anonymity, hopefully that should be enough to keep the imperials away. If the the Alliance is lucky, anyway.

Welcome to a new FFG Star Wars game utilizing both Age of Rebellion and Edge of the Empire. In this game Iím looking for an asymmetrical mix of mercs and rebels. In this case, Iím thinking of a group of 3-4 people living on the Edge of the Empire and 1-2 members of the Rebellion.

A few things to keep in mind:

First, I am completely fine with both the Unofficial Species Menagerie and using the Force Sensitive specializations in either books. Also, an EotE character can take an AoR career as their starting career and vice versa without any problems from me.

Second, because everyone involved has gone through a lot to arrive at Harrin Central Station for one reason or another, everyone has 60 extra experience they can spend AFTER chargen, as well as 1000 credits to spend on equipment that isnít restricted. This means that after generating your character with your raceís normal allotment of XP, you will gain 60 XP as if you finished a couple missions/jobs already, and can spend that on everything you could spend XP on after chargen.

Third, someone playing an EotE character must take obligation, and someone playing a member of the rebellion has to take duty. Obligation will start at 5, and people can take up to 15 extra obligation like usual. Duty will start at 20 and can only be reduced by 15.

Finally, this campaign will stretch further than heists and action, so a balanced party with fighty-people along with a pilot and technically-skilled people would be a big help to support that.

And thatís about it for game information, now for out of game stuff:

If you want in the game, please be ready to post at LEAST once a week, and itíd help a lot if youíre willing to show up on IRC channels. Iím usually hanging around #Sweote, #Persona, and #redhandofdoom, so any of those would work if you want to remain in contact.

Recruitment will last about a week or longer if there are enough apps still being worked on, but no longer than a week and a half.

Edit: to make character creation smoother: Here's a Character Generator program that people can use. Make sure to read the readme.

Rrakt - Jawa Technician

Born on Tatooine, Rrakt was fascinated by off-world technology and tales from other planets; he spent much of his time fiddling with machines and listening to off-worlders talk about their (frequently exaggerated) travels and adventures. His obsession and the distractions it caused him, as well as his general personality, created difficulties for him among his fellow Jawas, and they hindered his ability to assist the clan in doing what it needed. Eventually, he snuck away from his clan's sandcrawler and made a deal with a crew preparing to leave the planet, joining them and leaving behind his home, his family, and his clan name.

Rrakt's attempts at adjusting to life outside of his clan had mixed results. He took to doing business off-world quickly, accepting both that he couldn't always make the usual Jawa demand of "money up front or nothing" if he wanted to get any business, and that sometimes he had to fix something so that it would last longer than just enough for money to exchange hands and the thing to walk out the door. Which was fine for him, as he legitimately enjoyed working with "exotic" technology (i.e. anything he had never seen before, which was quite a bit considering the backwater planet he was from). On the other hand, being outside the sandcrawler and fortress made him somewhat paranoid, leading to things like him keeping all his belongings on him at all times, regardless of the situation.

Eventually, Rrakt made his way to Harrin Central Station. After admiring the sights of this hive of scum and villainy, he set about locating the station's black market and integrating himself into it. While he faced some difficulties (not least in part because Jawa Trade Language is rarely outside of Tatooine), he made good progress establishing himself as a reliable technician and mechanic, ingratiating himself to various figures in the underworld. Despite a few setbacks, (most notably fixing a smuggler's ship, only for said smuggler to throw him bodily from the premises instead of paying him, though that eventually ended poorly for said smuggler) he's managed to make a decent living and reputation among the Station's less-savory types. Which is seeming to pay off, what with this latest job he's received to assist a group of mercenaries in "acquiring" some data.

Bacca - Wookiee Smuggler

Kashyyyk was where Bacca was born, but not where he was from. He was from Desolation Alley, the crowded supermax prison built on the asteroid Oove IV. Sent there for a crime he didn't remember, he served in the prison for a long time, almost 3 decades.

He was raised there among the scum of the universe, taught how to fight by bounty hunters like Aurra Sing, taught how to keep things hidden from view of the authorities by smugglers like Bendix Fust. Bacca was taught well in prison, and came out of it a career criminal. Ready to sow his new talents among the Outer Rim he went to work. First he got hired onto a gang of nobodies needing a large, imposing Wookiee who was a good shot. However, after a few months, he was not happy with the amount he was earning, and decided to confront his gang boss, a Twi'lek named Bib'sara, and demand more money for his services. Bib'sara did not take kindly to his Wookiee's request for a larger cut of the gang's shares, and tried to kill Bacca instead. Bib'sara's death was quick, but little did he realize that Bib'sara was a major player in the planet's political game, and for the first time in his life, Bacca had a death sentence. However a human came to his aid, and for that Bacca was grateful. This human helped smuggle Bacca from his hiding place on the world, and assisted in his setup of his own small ship to begin smuggling. All he wanted in return was for Bacca to keep his head to the ground, and let the human, Pandis Hart, know of any new information that might be useful.

So Bacca started his life over as a smuggler, using the methods taught to him by one of the best in the business, Bendix Fust. Smuggling drugs and weapons in ancient box transport that was barely held together was one of the most exciting things Bacca had ever done. He learned to maneuver the fragile Action III transport as if he was piloting a starfighter, and none of the Imperials could find his hidden holds covered under carefully designed fake plating and clever scan proof hidden compartments. The booze and large weapons also kept the questions away, no customs agent wants to piss off a drunk wookiee with a bowcaster unless they really really had to.

Now Pandis Hart has contacted him, asked him to travel to Harrin Central Station, and assist in a deal for one of his clients. So Bacca, ever grateful to the human to whom he owes a favor, left his transport and made his way to the station.

Curses from all directions!

Trinnli Parr (Human Technician/Mechanic).

It's possible that no other place in the Outer Rim rested so firmly in the Empire's shadow as Eriadu did. A powerful center of trade, Eriadu was home to many influential and powerful Imperial families. But the Parr family was not one of them.

Above the planet itself, great labyrinthine spacedocks serviced countless merchant ships and the massive cruisers of the ever-growing Imperial Navy. There was plenty of good, honest work here for anyone who wanted it and who could keep their head down while doing it. It was in this exact way that Trinnli's father, Savril, had worked hard to provide for his wife, two sons, and daughter.

Savril liked to boast that Trinnli had been born with a hydrospanner in her grasp. She had an uncanny aptitude for making sense of mechanical things, but from the time she could walk she'd always talked about wanting to fly ships, not fix them. Nevertheless, as she grew up she found herself working in the spacedocks as well. Unfortunately, unlike her father, she was not one to keep her head low and the prevailing Imperial mentality did not appreciate ambitious upstart workers.

Out of a job, and at odds with her father, Trinnli decided to strike out on her own. These early times were the roughest, as the galaxy was not particularly sympathetic to a naÔve mechanic. Honest work ceased to be an option, if only because honest employers seemed to be the rarest of all things. Driven by desperation, and the fact that criminal enterprises seemed to be more fair about things, she fell in with a misfit smuggling crew.

Eventually she found her footing and proved her worth, and for a time Trinnli's life was pretty good. But it wasn't to last. Contracted for a job on Boonta, Biv'yana, the leader of her merry little band withheld a crucial bit of information that proved disastrous to the entire group. Their cargo was dangerously unstable, resulting in extreme damage to the ship, and the deaths of everyone except Trinnli before she was able to stabilize the shipment and program the ship to limp to its nearby intended destination. Herself critically wounded, she passed out.

When she regained consciousness, she found herself face to face with her client, a droid named SG-47 who professed to represent much more powerful individuals and as a token of their gratitude for her dedication in completing the job they had decided to save her life. Such loyalty was rare in these dark times, and they could have need of a person such as Trinnli. Also, the price tag for saving her life did not come cheap. She had sustained massive injuries requiring extensive work and their gratitude alone would not cover the tab for all the artificial organs and limbs she had needed. The rest she would have to work off, but SG-47 said not to worry, the jobs would pay well. It was that or she could die where she was right now. SG-47's masters would understand, he had told her. Trinnli accepted.

Left to the medical care of a rather shady Besalisk doctor named Jarran Mag, he oversaw her reconstruction and rehabilitation. He replaced a number of internal organs, including her heart, a lung, both kidneys, and an eye. Her left leg was intact, but her right one required a prosthetic from the knee on down. Her right arm was remarkably fine, but her left was completely gone. In addition to replacing it, Jarran added two more. When Trinnli awoke from the surgery, she was at first horrified. Jarran insisted that based on his personal experience that four arms were better than two, and that it wasn't his fault, he really wasn't familiar with humans anyhow. More than likely, he probably just wanted to pad the bill for his services with extra expenses.

Since this event three years ago, Trinnli has studiously performed the tasks SG-47 has provided her with. Although who she's worked with has constantly changed, she's never done a job that hasn't ended successfully. She might even be able to pay off her debt soon. SG-47 had just contacted her about an opportunity on Harrin Central, so that's where Trinnli is headed next.

Mon Calamari Spy (Slicer) Donal Yeeli reporting for duty. Here

Donal Yeeli is the youngest child Tish and Kora Yeeli, a pair of astornavigators. He had a very unique childhood, living on a small freighter with his parents, older sister ( Nar'a), and a small crew, charting new hyperspace lanes in the far reaches of the outer rim. It was an uneventful life in contrast with the chaos everywhere else. The people on the ship supported the Rebellion, but not as something they would risk their lives for.

This all changed with the uprising on Dac. Sudden, the details of what the Empire did on Dac came to light. All the suffering and destruction hit them hard, and they rushed back to help rebuild. It was there that they heard a passionate Commander Ackbar speak, and at that very moment, they become Rebels.

Donal was sent to Alliance Intelligence to train as a slicer, His sister joined the Alliance fleet as a pilot, and their parents worked on plotting hyperspace routes for the fleet.

After his training and several support missions, Alliance HQ has picked Donal for an important mission to the Harrin System, and he does not intend to let them down.

Arlon Zim

When you ask people what the most important detail to consider when stealing from a Hutt you a get a variety of answers. The smartass says don't get caught, the brute tells you to pack overwhelming firepower and the charlatan tells you that you need a good place to hide. The correct answer is to make sure nobody knows the robbery occurred. Arlon pulled this off in spades, at least until the rebellion came calling. They had all the information they needed to make sure the Hutts were chasing Arlon for the rest of his very short life. So having taken his money and his freedom Arlon was left to work for some naive thoughts of overthrowing the empire or live long enough to erase any evidence the rebellion said they had on him.

Herglic didn't work out, aborted and retrying with:

Kurr Mira, Gungan Big Game Hunter/Scout

Kurr was raised in a wealthy house in Otoh Gunga. When he was young he started sneaking out via Bongo and exploring. He met an offworlder seeking a rare fish that lived near the planet's core, and seeing an opportunity, took him down for profit. Realizeing that he could make real money, he soon started a small black market operation to let wealthy offworlders hunt rare creatures above and below the waters of Naboo.

He was soon found out, and left the planet one step ahead of the local law. He mostly despises Gungans, thinking them weak for hiding in the waters of Naboo instead of fighting right away to take back their planet. He does his best to distance himself from other Gungans and takes it personally when people lump him in with the rest of them.

Now he's made a living taking people on exotic hunts, and the occasional smuggling job.

On a lot of jobs, at the end of the night, while the clients wined and dined on exotic meats, he'd spend some time with the bodyguards and other hangers on. Swapping stories, mainly. On the last job, one of the bodyguards said he had a lead on a prime payday on a nowhere shadowport called Harrin Central Station. Kurr thought it was worth a look.

edit: I plan on playing him like a little cross between these Muldoon and Riddick.

Maka

The Togorians are a mostly forgotten race. There are a few minor trade routes there - the females pay well for small bits of luxury and technology - but overall, few know of them.

Which makes them exotic to would be slave traders.

Maka was one such "catch." Grabbed on what was meant to be a simple hunting expedition, he saw a whole lot of the galaxy from the sanctum of...well, first some chains, then a cage when he broke those, then small embedded pain receptors when he broke THAT. Fortunately for him, a female Togorian named Hrrrmrrr had taken a liking to him before he vanished, and put together a group to find him and free him. He helped after pulling out his own pain receptors, though THAT left some scars he tries to keep hidden. Either way, he made his way back, married Hrrrmrrr, and then...left again.

Male Togorians are rotten at staying still. It was custom for them to spend most the year out wandering and hunting, returning to be with their mate for typically only a month out of the year before leaving again. In Maka's case, it wasn't enough to just hunt planetside. He had seen the stars. He wanted to see more of them. Just...not in a cage.

Maka makes a living being a big scary cat. He's muscle, both in reputation and in deed, and the latter tends to help more then the former. Oh sure, being able to knock out a wookie with a solid punch or a broadside swipe of his vibroaxe is all well and good, but it's far more useful if he just looms over whatever miserable squib is causing his most recent employee troubles and ensures that fight never happens in the first place. He still makes time and saves his money to return to his home planet once a year and stays in touch with Hrrrmrrr (and in fact his communicator and axe are just about the only bits of technology he truly trusts), but enjoys his freedom amongst the outer reaches.

One small complication, though - he hates slavers. For, well, obvious reasons, but has n the past abandoned jobs when he saw one go to work. While the would-be slaves are always thankful, his would-be employees are not.

Maka

Maka seems to be a lot like me, a big scary cat that does things a big scary cat needs to do. There are some cleverly hidden scars on his body that make me think he's been a slave, and I do not like slavers. Maka is like a brother to me, I will fight and kill by his side, but he better not get in the way doing something stupid that will cost me money.

Trinnli Parr

This strange human does not smell totally human, but she is a good mechanic. She has those odd extra arms that I always though a human needed, even if they don't smell like her. When I heard she was working for SG-47's smuggling group I was amazed, not many Humans could land such a job. She was probably an excellent mechanic, and a decent smuggler. She is welcome to fly with me any time.

Rakt

The Jawa are a smelly people. I am not very familiar with them, not ever having been to Tattooine, but he seems to carry himself, and his huge backpack of junk, very well. I must remember to keep any droids away from Rakt, I hear that his people like to capture them for fun and sell them.

Roland Jones

i wasnt scared at all

Rrakt's Impressions
The following is translated from Jawa Trade Language. It is, more or less, accurate; Rrakt tends to talk very fast and sometimes slips into Jawaese when excited or agitated.

Trinli
"Who? Oh, the human with the fake limbs. Did you know, in addition to three of her arms and her eye, her right leg is mechanical too? It's covered by her clothing, but the gait and weight of her steps differ. Wait, what do you mean you didn't notice that she had a fake eye too? No, I won't tell you which it is. Figure it out for yourself.

"What do I think about her? Well, she's a mechanic, as well as a dabbling pilot, so she'll probably make for interesting conversation. Everyone here uses all this great technology, but almost none of them understand it, so trying to talk to them about it is like trying to teach a bantha to sing. I would like to take a look at those mechanical limbs of hers, too; things like that were rare on Tattooine. Everyone there is either poor or a Hutt.

"Don't listen to anyone who says she's a better mechanic than I am, though. I'm the best on this station. By the way, you need any work done?"

Maka
"The big scary cat is a strange sight. I've seen about as many of his kind out here as I've seen fellow Jawas. By which I mean he's the only one I've seen. You'd definitely notice them if there were more; hairy as Wookies, but even bigger, and they look and smell different.

"I've seen him around once or twice. Standing at doorways or behind important people, looking big and menacing. Looming. Doesn't have much tech on him though; if I hadn't noticed his commlink I would have sworn the only thing he had was that big axe. I'd rather not get on his bad side; even without that thing, he could probably just pick me up and bite my head off. Yikes."

Bacca

"Pretty much every Wookie you see is a criminal. Not in the way that almost everyone on this station is a criminal, but in that most of them are either slaves or prisoners of the Empire, so if you see one not in one of those situations, they probably escaped from them instead.

"Bacca here, it turns out, is really good at being a criminal, so I suppose that worked out for him. He's a smuggler and a pilot, in addition to being big and dangerous, so he's rather multi-talented. I wonder what kind of ship he pilots; there are so many interesting vessels to be seen on this station. He's also probably interesting himself, what with the kind of history he likely has. I wonder if his ship needs a mechanic..."

Trinli - A strange woman. Who replaces themselves with metal? Is proof that much of technology is not to be trusted. Now, they are replacing US with it! As with the little man, I do not run in the same circles as her, so we do not know each other too much.

Rrakt - Ahahaha, tiny little man! He also is speaking a strange language, but is very different from me. He and I, not see each other much; different lines of work. I do not understand the technology he uses, and he does not understand, ehhh...being large. And fighting.

Maka

Honestly, I'm not too sure what to make of Maka. It's easy to understand that being as big as he is, making a living out of intimidating people is a pretty great career choice for him. And, if I judged by appearances I'd think he'd be kind of fiery and quick to act, but I don't actually think this is the case. Not exactly, anyhow. I haven't heard him say much so far, but he sure does seem to like staring out windows lookin' at the galaxy. I'm not saying that he isn't fierce, he definitely is, but I think that a lot of it has to do with his job. I bet he's probably more contemplative than he might normally let on.

Bacca

From what I know of him, Bacca's been around for a while, has a pretty long resume, and a fair bit of experience. I've never worked with him, but I've worked alongside other veterans before and I kinda get the impression that working alongside him'll be much the same. There's a weird sense of security in knowing that I'll have such a capable companion. That said, I think he was hard done by in his younger days and it's made him a little more cold later in life. He's trustworthy, I'll bet, but if he were faced with saving someone and blowing the job, or completing the job and abandoning someone, I'd trust him to do the latter. Not that I'm expecting anything like that, so I'm sure this won't be a problem.

We had Jawas all over at the spacedocks back home, they mostly scavenged things and caused trouble for the rest of us. Dad always had to shoo them away and called them troublemakers. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the client for this job would want a troublemaker, and this guy's apparently made a name for himself here at Harrin. I haven't been here long enough to examine any of his work firsthand, but I'm sure he's at least a competent mechanic. He keeps looking in my direction, and with that cowl hiding his face I can't really tell what he's thinking. Probably telling himself that I can't possibly be better at my job than he is.

Can I use computers to rig up a fake credit chip that has a "time lock"? Pretty much the scan will show money but he can't access it until X time has passed.

Well you can't make money out of thin air... and altering credit chips is said to be "notoriously difficult" at page 162 of the Age of Rebellion book.

But you're not making money so much as altering a credit chip to bug out when it's used so I'll let you do it at a Hard difficulty, and I'll add 2 setback dice due to time constraints. As soon as you dock the guy will want to see you, and you're docking right now, so you have 3 to 4 minutes.

I'd add another one for not having proper tools, but you have Slicer Gear so only 2 setback dice for you.

I mean, you could also just cold cock the dude if you don't mind getting violent, but the method you outlined is just about the only way I see of doing it perfectly stealthily unless you have another idea like that, so...

Edit: Also, Roland_Jones used a light side token, so we're back to 4 dark side and 2 light side.

Mechayahiko you should totally hop on IRC when you can, also I totally advise you just rolling the bones instead of waiting for in-character confirmation, if only to keep the game fast.

I'll be posting some time later today, if you can squeeze in what you want to roll before then that'd be great.
