Crossbows and the Dawnguard armor set are literally the only reason to own the DLC outside of mods that depend on it (a lot, surprisingly), and if you bought it outside of the legendary edition I am LOL (laughing out loud) at you, right now.

Crosspostin' about thisHeavy Lobster posted:say what you will about Morrowind combat sucking (it does), but after a certain point combat ends pretty quickly because both parties actually hit consistently, and with great force. I will stand by the fact that Oblivion's combat, after a certain point, is way worse, though. While the whiffing miss noise is about as close as you can get to the physical embodiment of frustration, Oblivion didn't actually get rid of it – even though everything is a "hit," you still have the dice roll for damage going on, and you can sometimes get the same "miss" condition as in Morrowind and just do one damage. That's fine, it would've been nice to have in Morrowind, whatever. Past around level 10 in Oblivion though, enemies begin their quick ballooning into insane amounts of HP while still not doing enough damage to be a threat, so that you're just sitting around left-clicking while standing still and... wait, this sounds familiar, right? Oh, yeah. Oblivion's combat curve is Morrowind, but in reverse.

Gobblecoque posted:im pretty sure the only actual improvement that oblivion made is the ability to cast spells without going into casting mode Which Morrowind Code Patch also allows, in addition to fixing a ton of little problems. Apparently it was intended to be as Oblivion, but Bethesda couldn't get it to work because Bethesda.
