I'm watching Dawn of the Dead director's cut and goddamn this movie owns. i forgot about the excellent synth-heavy soundtrack and the '70s outfits and poo poo. top notch. Night of the Living Dead is still the best because it's deeper than just "haha awesome" but his other movies have elements of social commentary which are often compelling

"Pussy, money and race cars. That's pretty much all I care about."

Day of the Dead is the greatest Zombie movie ever IMO.

Land of the Dead isn't bad, just not as good as his earlier stuff. Anything after that though don't watch it.

I love the first 3 dead movies, but I honestly always thought the "social commentary" was highly overrated. Night's racial tension was completely accidental and Dawn's consumers = zombies was painfully shallow.

The mother fucker invented zombie films, so he gets a brofist from me.

He took Tom Savini, four dollars fifty, a shopping mall closed on a sunday, and some paperclips, and made a zombie film better than all zombie films from the last decade and a bit for gently caress sake.

He probably at least gets a kick out of the first one, since Night of the Living Dead is referenced and exists in Return. In fact in Return it was based on a previous accidental zombie spill.

Then the sequels were just terrible. Honestly if there ever was a movie with a very reasonable reason to have a prequel, it was Return of the Living Dead. They should have just done that: While cliche I'd killed to seen an 80s zombie movie set in the 50s.

ED: For what it's worth Night of the Living Dead zombies would pose like 0 threat to humanity, Return of the Living Dead zombies on the other hand.. part of the reason they didn't catch on as a zombie "type" was they were too unstoppable. Even hitting them with missiles just makes more. Though I also think it's funny the reason EVERYONE pictures zombies moaning "Brainnnns" is Return, when most people haven't even SEEN Return.
