If you're going to join the Navy with the intent of never going to sea, just join the loving Air Force We had one striker go cook (because he cleverly realized it was the only reliable way to get out of cranking) and one who was admittedly a bit of a meathead go TM. SKs had some bitch work at sea and of course had to stand basic watches but for a seagoing rate it really did have a ton of plusses. When I was super-nubly and got put on port and starboard Tiger Team sharing a rack with one of the SKs, he just moved into the cave underneath the shack, which was drat near half as big as the entirety of aft berthing.

Real French toast with real eggs is pretty good, though. Key point, use up to one egg per slice, none of this pantywaist 3-4 eggs for the whole loaf poo poo Our cooks would be genuinely pissed when we ate enough of the dinner that they had to put something other than leftovers out for midrats. Often they'd just leave the evening meal sitting out until breakfast and call it good.

There was a core group of three or four of us in power school that would have to be standing in the back of class pretty much every Friday to stay awake. We'd inevitably start swaying and shuffling together before getting in a straight up doo-wop spinning and clapping routine, seeing how far we could go to gently caress with the instructor before he'd tell us to knock it off. Nuke school was a pretty good time.

In fairness I was in an EAB and ventilation was secured in maneuvering with like 15 people in there and it was hot as gently caress. I also nearly conked out up in the sail during a particularly long and bad maneuvering watch when it was deep-subfreezing in the North Atlantic and I had like seven layers of clothes and chemical warmers inside my pumpkin suit and still practically had hypothermia. I sure as gently caress want HM students in a regular classroom to stay awake, jesus gently caress.
