Lovely Planet is a first person shooter in which you run fast and shoot fast. It's pretty hard and definitely not for sissy babies. It has jump pads and stuff. Don't even try using your Xbox controller because Lovely Planet is only for MOUSE AND KEYBOARD. It's $6 on Steam. It's kind of like Super Meat Boy because the stages are really short and when you fail you can restart them instantly. When you finish a stage you get rated for time and accuracy. It has 100 stages spread across 5 worlds and new mechanics are introduced as you progress through them. It looks cool. It sounds cool. http://calumbowen.bandcamp.com/album/lovely-planet-original-soundtrack Check out these videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inqS2Gg-z74 ***download 60 FPS version*** https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_tRpGuyELw Here's how you play: Shoot red guys Don't shoot blue guys Shoot apples before they hit the ground You get the green star for beating the par time and the yellow star for 100% accuracy It's really good so buy it on Steam. It's on sale right now, 90 cents off! e: apparently it actually does have 360 pad support. Good luck with that! see you tomorrow fucked around with this message at 07:13 on Aug 2, 2014 |

Is this actually a japanese game, or is it just attempting to imitate one? It looks and sounds japanese as all hell but the mechanics are pretty different from a typical japanese game, it'd be interesting if this came out of their indie scene.

No apparently the developer is based in Delhi.

Is there some sort of movement trick I am not finding? I keep thinking my routing on a level is nearly optimal but I am still several seconds off the WR time it shows.

If you're holding down spacebar you'll automatically jump whenever you land on anything you can possibly jump off of which can be used to bounce off hillsides and fences and stuff if you position yourself just right. You've got a ton of air control, and keep in mind WR times don't require you to be 100% accurate. Somehow I have the WR on 5-1 and all I was trying to do was beat the stage. Here's some videos of a guy getting some WRs in the first 2 worlds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1rgsOdTMn8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTGIKfNw65o I'm really hoping someone puts up some videos of the world 5 stages because a lot of those I can't even figure out how to make par time on. e: also as you can see in those videos apples don't count as enemies that you're required to shoot so if you can make it around the location they're scripted to fire at you don't have to worry about them. see you tomorrow fucked around with this message at 23:19 on Aug 2, 2014 |

I've been playing this a fair bit the past few days. I've managed to 3 star up through world 4 so far, and I guess I'll start playing World 5 pretty soon. Screw 4-21, though. Wasn't that look backwards and shoot the apples level in world 2 bad enough without fog and homing bullets?

The swamp area is loving brutal. Finally got Blue/Green stars on World 2, at least, but I don't think I'll ever get yellow with the triple-launch in 2-20. I have no idea how to do that without spamming.

Just bought it, because wanted something new to play on my linux machine, and it's really charming and brutal at the same time. Surprisingly it plays very like Quake on speedrun terms, comparing the jump/air control and precise shooting.

Yes its definitely a cool modern take on classic style shooting. That's why I was asking about missing some kind of bunny hop style movement glitch. Its a very charming and enjoyable game.

This game is amazing. I just got it and have been spending all of the time just refining my runs and trying my best to get a single WR. Still haven't gotten one though :<. But I definitely would recommend this game to anyone who likes fast paced games.

I get 20 seconds and WR is 10. I really want to see these replays. EDIT: I found some on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6mwsP3KCmw Do apples not get thrown if you just go around them?

How about an exciting WR run of 5-7!? http://youtu.be/mPj1VFAXeg0 Not the actual run, but a recreation of it that's only slightly slower than the actual run. Take note of the bit where I use the blue carrot guy to teleport directly next to a blue hat guy that hasn't fired his shot yet and have to parry it at point blank range! That one was problematic. Here's some extended footage of me failing to recreate the run for a few minutes if you like that sort of thing. http://youtu.be/TQ1vtFdcbuU

The more I play this game, the more I love it. Is great that it will give you a set up that encourages spray and pray and then immediately follow up with something that has to be a precision shot. Th level design is really tight. Its a shame is is not getting more attention than it is.
