Well, the shift in TV has gone from retard sitcoms (though they still exist) to semi-intelligent series that have consistent characters and a developing plot, so TV has gotten smarter. We needed something to fill that void, so now videogames are our primary source of retard entertainment. See, it fills an important niche in our lives.
