The Chopper storyline would make a good Dredd movie.

If you don't know it, Chopper is a graffiti artist who rides a hover board in illegal races. Dredd tries to bring hom down and it turns into a freedom rallying cry by the whole of the city.
It could be well done.

the nudist liberationists are funny too. they bomb clothing stores, etc. one nude urban guerrilla fighter robs a bank, flees with judges in hot pursuit. the judges know he can't hide. but then they turn a corner and there's a big Nude Pride parade. "drok, we've lost him!"

eventually the situation escalates and there's a nudist rebellion that takes over a whole sector. several of the moderate nude activists are on the verge of convincing the hall of justice to turn the sector into a clothing-free zone. so what does dredd do? he switches the sector's climate control system to freezing...

Dredd made me love Urban in an altogether non manly way. Dude gets mad props for not having an ego about taking off the mask and realising that the source material is king.

Dredd is a way better Robocop movie than the remake of that, which is weird because the original Robocop was a way better version of Judge Dredd than the Stallone film.

gently caress 3D. I won't pay to see a single lovely movie in that format. This is why no one went to see Dredd in the theatre. Making the movie R rated, combined with shooting for a target audience of 3D watchers, it was ensured that nobody who could see the movie would even want to.

Hell, I didn't even see the Hobbit films recently, and I saw the three LOTR in the theater. Also saw all three Matrix films. Yeesh. Saw the first one at a midnight showing though. Was pretty awesome.

I think that it being styled DR3DD in the trailers has something to do with people not thinking to just see it in 2D. Advertising was trash for Dredd which was a real shame.

I thought to myself, "thats some loving tight scriptwriting." A great case of letting the audience fill in the blanks. I always loved the Dredd comics and I love the Dredd movie because it's pure and everyone making it obviously had a blast. Urban nailed Dredd and Lena Heady played one of the greatest cool bad guys since Clarance Boddicker. I liked Sharlto Copely's cyber hobo ninja craziness in Elysium. But Ma-ma is loving iconic in that part. If you don't believe me look at the scene when she is asked if they should skin the guys and throw them over the ledge. She is a million miles away. These people are less than nothing. I could write an essay about that film. It did so much right. It's delivery of "I am the Law" is a statment of intent and a warning in one. He is an agent of the Law. Stallone's is a blustering arrogant splutter to assert dominance. "I yam der lawr"

The sequels were supposed to cover the democracy marches and the total war terrorist group (democracy is outlawed in the big meg and is used as a subtle comment on communism and recently on the 9/11 fallout) Such a shame
