i loving hated both albums at first. like, really bad. i think i said "this sounds like tom waits carnival music!" about ITAOTS. at the time i was really into really downtempo stuff like Labradford. hell i didn't even like the mountain goats back then.
i came around but i always have liked on avery island a lot more than ITAOSIT. gardenhead and nami are two of his best songs. the unreleased stuff on ferris wheel on fire is also better than ITOIAS. imo

why would you be in search of new jazz though. i would rather pay attention to a chopped n screwed mixtape than listen to an 8 minute YouTube segment of any of the few jazz albums on my dj jazzy Jeff iTunes list
stoned rant aside- coletrain's olè and miles Davis bitches brew are the only two albums i really enjoy.

For the Cure try Seventeen Seconds, i really like it, then listen the album after that Faith, also very good. Then comes Pornography which is just freaking depressing as poo poo.
Everything after that strays a bit too far from their earlier work for me to enjoy and the album before it is just a bit too punky and theres a million bands that do that better.
