Start with Sting the Black Cobra and then listen all the way through and to the rest of his stuff if you like it

my probnlem is I like the samples but the drums are all clearly canned and the mismatch bothers me

Do any of you know where to find instrumental versions of rap albums? I don't mean Instrumental Hip-Hop albums like DJ Shadow or Dilla or FlyLo or whatever because they're mostly short loops and/or full of atmospherics and kind of stand on their own as albums and don't have room for lyrics but I'm just looking for beats to spit over and finding instrumental versions of my favorite albums is hard. Usually I can only find the singles and club bangers but there's a lot of beats I can't find and I don't know where to even look a lot of the time. Some producers release instrumental vinyls (like I picked up Seven's Travels a while back) but I want digital copies and I would pay for them. Some producers like Sabzi are cool and put that poo poo up on bandcamp but it's frustrating trying to find this stuff

who loves music from mali? i love music from mali!

malian music was one of the main forces behind mississippi delta style blues, and the cool thing is modern malian musicians have come full circle, playing their own style derived from their own culture, but also taking influence from the american music that was inspired by their country's music long ago
for example iirc ali farka says his main influences are his parents, and john lee hooker

the late great ali farka toure is probably the most famous guy, he's amazing, and he has many children who have also grown up to be musicians, cause mali sort of has a caste system (which sucks) and they're of the musician caste (which sounds cool but it's caste so it still sucks)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DQMYqLrc7k chill
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMXllLB1USY fun
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBt8MJ6wrQM so loving blues

Then there's Tinariwen, strictly speaking they're tuareg and from what i understand they're on ongoing international tour right now because of turmoil in their home area :smith:
their style is like if ali farka met jimi hendrix and became a little more deserty sounding
good side of that is i've seen them twice and they're amzaing live
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Twbs2AZ8_0 call'n'response, go to an empty room and sing along!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8He1jhDFM5U ululation

actually i've seen tons of malian live acts recently and they've all been amazing, and then i realize the likely reason i'm seeing so many mali musicians come through :(

bombino is another really good guy, also tuareg but he's from Niger and he was in exile a whlie too but i think has returned now
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Adfb17JQYtg great live performance

You heard Toumani Diabate? He's fuckin amazing

lol elliott smith is an amazing artist and if you boil his music down to being sad acoustic guitars it's obvious you have terrible opinions on music as a whole.
most of his music is more like stuff the beatles than anything else, just excellently made pop/rock music where he does most of the instruments himself.

the beatles suck dick

paul mccartneys songs are the musical equivalent of a summers eve commercial

dogcrash truther
shortly before he was shot john lennon sent a tape of blondie's "heart of glass" to george with a note that said "this is the kind of music we should be making" he was right, but he forgot one thing: they would never be as cool or good as blondie

I watched and listened to it 4 times in a row, made a big facebook post tagging everyone I believe I alienated myself from. I told them about this place.

We will become one giant collective of best friends striving our hardest to unite and become self sufficient. We WILL survive the next paradigm shift whenever it happens. Educate yourselves and discuss all of it amongst eachother freely at your leisure.

Your first assignment is to explore the you tube channel truthnevertold. No matter what doubts you have, don't give up. It's always crazy at first. But, you cannot allow any doubts to get in the way. Try to be open. It's just a youtube channel. What's the worst that could happen? We can discuss this rationally as I'm getting my act together.

To me, this experience symbolizes working everything out rationally. Nothing will be misunderstood. I absolutely will NOT allow any of my friends to be left misunderstood and I absolutely will NOT tolerate judgement viewing my friends and myself as insane on any level this time. Ever again. Thank you and good night. *drops the mic*

E: I'd like 1 avatar 1 sig. Both involving The Goblin and Krang doing something productive together while holding an expression of pure joy on both their faces.

E: Mother confronted me with her concerns. I negotiated that the face book post I made was to be saved and explained in therapy. While she went off to work, I sent copies of the post to some close friends whom I feel will understand the best. My goal is to write it better to make my family feel less worried about me going too fast. The goal itself is to prevent a paradigm shift by uniting and sharing knowledge at any level of comfort.

I hope you feel better soon and mentally get to a place where you don't post like this here, because it's not really an appropriate place, but I genuinely wish you all the best :)
