Bill Burr episodes are my favorite of JRE casts, his own casts kinda pale in comparison. i guess at least recently he's been really down which has clearly affected it.

I dont get the hate for Rogan, it really depends who he has as a quest, but if its someone interesting he has no problem letting them do most of the talking etc.

A History of the World in 100 Objects by the BBC/British Museum kept my attention throughout the entire series.

Science:

Unless they are actual scientists/physicians that currently work or have worked in the field, most science reporting/podcasts are poo poo.

For general science the aforementioned podcasts from Nature and Science are good starts. Nature is more accessible to the layman (and edited better).

PNAS produces PNAS Science Sessions which are 5-7 minute reports on a single subject.

Omega Tau I have been impressed by. Hosted by two Germans, they spend 1-2 hours on a single subject and they go in depth. Subjects range from the Space Shuttle, Self-Driving Cars, high energy neutrinos, viruses, bitcoin, to flying off an aircraft carrier. Highly recommended.
