Grant tries to one-up the Animal Man scene, the last page of the physical comic is a reflective surface showing you as the monster.

Since you said you didn't know what why Superboy was hacking up dust, I guess I'll just say that it brought to mind that just recently the evil Superman in the current Earth 2 series was revealed to be their Bizarro and he dissolved into dust. Of course, this probably doesn't mean anything in the context of Multiversity, since Morrison's all about callbacks to older stuff (plus I don't know how far back he writes these vs. when the art is done), so I doubt he'd be referencing something that happened just a couple of months ago.

So is this some sort of Multiversity offshoot or side effect? Because it looks like involves alternate timelines and such.

DC's 2015 Event Will Preempt All Regular Comics For Two Full Months

quote:

The alien supervillain Brainiac has trapped cities from various timelines and planets that have ended, brought them in domes to a planet outside of time and space, and is now opening them for a great experiment to see what happens when all these folks meet. ...

Following in the footsteps of Brainiac is Telos, a new bad guy being introduced in Convergence. Named after the Greek philosophical term for ''end'' or ''goal,'' he is born of Brainiac and this mysterious planet — even taking on traits of that world — "but becomes a character unto himself," says DiDio.

It's spun out of Superman Doomed and Fututres End. Not related to Multiversity except for involving stuff like Red Son characters, which are on Grant's map.
Expect contradictions to the Multiversity guidebook if anything.

What? I didn't think it was spinning out of anything. Just two months of filler so people can move.

Superman Doomed ended with

Spoiler...

Braniac sucking out the brain energy of everybody on the planet and Superman whacking him into a black hole where on the last page he ended up here

and a future big monster Braniac is talking about collecting multiple versions of people in Futures End.

That's interesting, I was expecting it to be this as well, considering that when Final Crisis was announced, it was pretty clear that DC looked and went "there's not enough money in this... let's COUNT DOWN TO IT." It wouldn't surprise me in the least if they tried to tangle up some bits of Multiversity in it, but apparently it is just straight out of the Doomed and Futures End stories.

Who was originally meant to be drawing it?

Also I hope he has had a head-start for a while now, because it seemed like this might finally be a Grant Morrison superhero series without art delays or fill-ins.

I've always thought that Jim Lee is a worse artist than Liefeld, I am glad that Lee is eager to prove it.

ASBAR is probably the most interest Lee had ever been (Miller tends to bring that out of some artists), but the early Justice League stuff, what I saw of Superman Off the Chain, and this are all super bad.

That looks like Lee trying to be Michael Turner, of all artists.

But yeah, I hope the issue's been in the can for awhile. Maybe the series took so long to come out because of it!

The similarity with a moderately popular nazi supermen comic is probably purely coincidential
