Well, from a sane point of view, we just killed a bunch of innocent people.

Of course, since even the Emperor's priests accept the Machine Cult as a part of worship of Him On Terra, from most people's point of view, particularly our own, we killed a bunch of dangerous heretics.

C - Find out all you can about the relic.

Later, we might want to start bashing our head against the wall because the fake servitors were probably the real heretics.

Looks like mercy is not in us. We are going to take the survivors of your explosion, put them in machines which are the antithesis of all they believe in, scramble their organic brains until we get information about the relic from them, but only to make fun of them about it, and make them serve a machine which they have been told to hate for ten thousand years. I will keep that kind of xenophobic viciousness in mind for future interactions :black101:

Also, once they are finished being processed, we will have

1 Woodhouse
1 Cyber Mastiff
1 Flour-Cat
1 Riding Servitor
1 Servoskull
3 Generic Servitors

We are developing quite a nice little entourage for level 2-3.

But we do have an army of tribes that can crawl through the bowels of the ship undetected and have access to enough missiles to hold the whole hulk hostage... Or eject explode a portion of the ship along with its unwanted passengers into the warp.

Not that we'd do that. But we could. You know. If you look at us like that again.

Have the servitors fitted with spy devices and send them off to our rivals as gestures of goodwill.

Tolerance begets Betrayal

Idling your fingers on the trigger, you look down at the organics. So weak, so foolish. “The Machine-God oversees us all already, heretic, in his incarnation of the God-Emperor. He has judged you and found you wanting. You should never have questioned your place in the world, for that way lies the sins of apostasy.” Internally, you vox the Grey Guard. They don’t often come down to the Deeps, leaving order to the gangs, but a call from your Family will bring them here with haste. Even better, they will bring their pyres of cleansing flame.

All you had to do was keep your prisoners occupied. Flours can sense your hostility, raising up on her back legs and hissing down at them. At their fearful glance meeting her gaze, she leaps down, claws extended. Her raking nails tear through a heretic’s face, removing his eyes. Fluor-cats were domesticated, to an extent, but they had vicious scimitar claws to fight the fauna that existed aboard ship. Now those claws were used in service to the God-Emperor. His screams pleased the Omnissiah.

In no time at all, it seemed, the Greyguards showed up, swords and immolators at the ready. Their combat gear would have given them immediate transit down through the Deeps - Grey Guards only came down here when it was time for someone to die, and even the gangs gave them wide berth. Their leader, an older woman with grey hair and many scars, looked at you with hard eyes, saluting. “Factor Ohone, you requested our aid in the arrest of heretics. What your orders?”

Nodding at her, you say. “Bind them and bring them to the recycling tanks. Full processing.”

Her hard eyes look at the heretics with a split second of pity, and then she nods. “Full processing, aye. You heard the Factor, bind them and mind them!” Roughly, magnetic cuffs are attached at wrists and ankles, connecting wrists to ankles, and finally neck to neck to neck. It was impossible for them to move, and two Grey Guards were placed at front and back of the column, moving them with a device of powerful magnetism. They would float in the air, held up only by sharp metal, and their weight slowly push them down into the blades. The crowds in the Deeps saw such processionals every few years, and it was a macabre event - heretics suffering the Emperor’s Justice. Left alone, it was a slow death of bleeding and suffocation, but you had ordered Full Processing. The poor bastards.

Smiling mirthlessly, you walk along side them, your voice projecting to their ears alone. “Full Processing. You have no idea what that is, you’ve lived on an Agri-World all your life, a farm world without the blessings of the Omnissiah. You can’t imagine the sin of apostasy of the Machine-God, but you will soon realize the pain of that transgression. Full Processing is done to the dead of this ship, a method by which the resources of the dead are passed on to the living, allowing the dead to live on in us. But you will be going through the process alive.

"The pods will close in on you, letting you breathe an oxygen slurry. It will feel like you are drowning. Any metal you have in your body - implants, braces, replacement bones, teeth fillings, anything, will be removed from your body by surgical clamps. Openings will be made in your organics, held open by pliers and wedges, while machines - that which you hate, in your vile apostasy - will be placed in your body in service to the Omnissiah. Your skulls will be opened, and you’ll feel your memories being removed, one at a time. Your emotions, your personality, everything that is you, will be removed, and your body will be remade for the service of the God-Emperor. Anything useful will be turned over the Magos and then to me. The entire time, the Machine-Spirits will speak to you, humming in the blessed voices. Your last, eternal, memory, will be the sound of them.

“At this point you will be a whimpering, mewling mass, barely aware, barely any person left, in a pile of your own removed and useless organics. The flesh will be subjected to a chemical bath, refining it into a nutrient paste. I am told that it is quite painful. And finally, you will be fitted with a new programming, a new personality bent to the will of Faith. But part of you will always be in there, remembering who you were, and why your Heresy beget such agony. You will never forget, and you will serve the Machine-Cult for centuries.” Their faces are slack in horror; they would be unable to stand if they were not being literally forced, surrounded by crowds of hostile dregs, screaming at them.

“Oh, one more thing. I never gave a Chaos-cursed Grox about your Relic. Your heretical worship was in nothing.”

At that, you step back from the column. Justice will be done, and here in a few days you will have a few more servitors. Things are looking up.

All in all, its a beautiful day.

-

Finding Megabite took little time; she was less than a kilometer away from where the column had passed. She leaped up eagerly when she saw you approach, and sneezed when Flours hissed at her. Flours’ ears were folded back - she barely tolerated Megabite after being carried in her mouth not even a day ago, and you expected it would take time for them to bond. Briefly, you considered turning Flours into a cyber-animal as well, but dismissed it. The Magos probably wouldn’t allow you to turn everything you came across into servitors, at least not yet. Give it time.

The Relic Merchant had retreated to a domicile in a back area behind a large dump. You had watched him turn a corner about two hundred meters ahead and enter the building, and he did not appear to notice you. Megabite was showing no hypervigilance or anything to indicate an ambush, and your weapons had safeties half-off just in case. This morning’s ambush was embarrassing, and you had no intention of it happening again. Approaching the building quietly, you carefully look all about you for any signs of danger, but see nothing. The Relic Merchant is either oblivious or good at playing at it.

The front door is too obvious. Quickly examining the building, you notice the walls are slapped together, perhaps by some adhesive decades or centuries ago. Shoddy. Megabite quickly scurried herself between the walls, but you had to force the two apart. You didn’t observe any movement in the room you were entering, so it seemed safe enough to wedge your body through. Odd. The room smells familiar, like… iron. And rust. It almost smells like a Forge-World, although the room has very little that you can see that is mechanical. Much of it is covered in mold, in fact.

The room opens to a hallway on the left, which further splits into three entry ways. A sudden sound is coming from the left, along with shifting light, so you quickly stride there, raising your rifle to the ready as you turn the corner, Megabite at your side. In front of you, the Relic Merchant, mouth working wordlessly. Behind him, half a dozen bodies, screaming faces, open rib cages. They have deep scratches along their faces and arms and hands. Upon seeing you, all the blood rushes from his face, going completely white. His eyes take in your blue cloak, and a shudder goes through his entire body. “Oh… oh God-Emperor. This isn’t what it looks like. Oh Merciful Ching-Shih. Milady, protect me in this hour of need.”

A Found our cultist. Shoot him in the face.

B Definitely our cultist. Capture him and melt his brain for information.

C Let’s not be hasty. He could be innocent, even though you followed him into a room full of his trophies. Inquiry up some questions

D Inquiry, nothing. Slap him around, intimidation, he must know something.
