I've only played once, so my assessment of the board state might just be inexperience. But wow, the Shadow is getting hammered this game. The Fellowship is a skip away from Mordor with absolutely no corruption, and the Shadow has barely dug out 2VP. This is brutal.

I've never played before and am kind of learning as I go, so I'm not really surprised to be doing poorly! I poured out my wonderful hand last turn and even had Denethor's Folly on the board and still have barely made any headway. Not sure what I should be doing, but one thing I think thats hurt me is that I've tried to put pressure everywhere instead of focusing on one region at a time. Should I be adding more hunt dice? I'm not really sure.

I'm not really sure. While things aren't going well for the Shadow, I think things aren't as bad as they look. While the Fellowship may be only two moves away from Mordor, Gollum is the only Fellowship member left, so the FP will have to take nearly all Hunt Damage as corruption. You also can't add any more hunt dice, since Gollum is the only Companion left, but you've been rolling a decent number of eyes. From what I can tell, SPs usually try to put as many Strongholds under siege as they can as soon as they can, to prevent the FP from recruiting in them, so that worked out fairly well for you. I think your biggest mistake so far has been leaving all those units in Mordor, as it will take a bit to bring them out to Gondor where you need them, but even then, it might have worked had the dice gone differently or the FP hadn't drawn those cards. Not bringing out Saruman for so long also hurt, I think, though the FP hasn't mustered too much in Rohan. If you guys haven't seen it, take a look at this game where the Shadow Player's Military Campaign stalls out but is almost able to come back to a victory through corrupting the Fellowship.
