Victus

Hopping off of the boat and rejoining the warband, Victus grins beneath his mask. After that pitiful fight against the Ork in which he barely survived, it was good to slice through two ingrates. The sword may have been of terrible quality, but he certainly put it to good use.

"I am Victus of Iocanthos, warriors. It is a pleasure to meet others devoted to the Dark Gods." He noticed, however, that he was in the company of a Word Bearer all of a sudden. To him, Victus turned and genuflected most gracefully.

"And a distinct honor to meet one such as yourself, Word Bearer. You bring the truth of Chaos Undivided to the Galaxy so that the true heretics will understand why, in their dying breaths and feeble protests to the Corpse Emperor, it must burn. I shall endeavor to speed their communion with the Dark Gods by my swords."

Victus then looked around at the deck. "Speaking of which, would it be possible for me to find any decent swords around here? I must confess that I feel half-naked without a second sword, and I daresay that without one I am unable to reach my full potential in hand-to-hand combat."

Seeing the Ork contraption fly through the sky, Victus took the opportunity to inform the gathered warriors what it contained. "That... thing more than likely has a Mekboy and a Kommando on board. I crossed swords with them once... And found myself distinctly outmatched and shamed. While I would relish the chance to redeem myself and make him suffer my wrath, I suspect they might also be searching for a way off of this world. That might be a more useful lead to follow rather than my personal quest."

Searching for another melee weapon on this ship.
Fixed my drat XP costs. Nothing new to see here for the 250XP, folks.

Victus searches around in the equipment of the slaughtered Castaways for a weapon in decent condition, unfortunately just like the scavenged guns are in terrible condition, so are the melee weapons, blades of various side and a few axes are amongst the bodies, cumbersome and awkward to use.

You roll 88 on an untrained Scrutiny test to spot a nice weapon and fails, your only options are Poor quality swords, spears and axes. Also check the OOC thread.

The Castaway nods his head at Ariston. "Only one, Plaga is his name, he is a warrior like you, in that big armor you have, but more bloated and with a foul smell. The Dead Shark crew adores him."

Gozer

Glad that he was able to get such a fine weapon as a bolt pistol working again, Gozer remains on his guard as the newcomers appear. When however, they begin to introduce themselves in non-hostile ways, he slings his axe over his shoulder, and makes the sign of the Cog, "I am Gozer, Sanguinary Priest of Khorne, Weaponsmith, and innovator in the field of Sanguinary Smithing. It is a pleasure to meet all of you."

He then bends down and begins to inspect the body of the raptor and the armor, giving prodding pokes at the metal and flesh, "Salvaging some of this should be possible, but very difficult. I suggest we get the body on board our new conveyance first, and then begin to salvage it once at safety."

The heretek looks about, and sees the body of the dead wyrdling that that was being used as a feast by the new Nurglite. "I shall return; we might be able to beseech Khorne to help us extract this dirty Slaaneshi from his armor, uh, no offense meant against any Slaaneshi here." Gozer stands and makes his way through the group of new recruits, eyeing up which ones will likely have the most blood for use in later rituals.

He approaches the body of the eyeless, and quickly fleshless, wyrdling. "Excuse me," he says to the mutant, "If you don't mind I would like to get at that skull and offer it to Khorne to let us get into that armor." Gozer Draws his axe in his right hand, and grips the psyker's head with his main, and left, hand. As he puts his hand on psyker's head, a strong wind starts to whip through the area, and the water around the craft starts to bubble. The heretek tries to release his grip on the head, but is unable to, his hands seemingly merging with the head.

"Oh, this likely is not good,"is all Gozer can say before he starts to see the flesh of the head, and his hand, morph before his eyes. His fingers enlarge as the head shrinks, as if taking mass. His nails also elongate. after their sudden increase in size, they reflexively flex, and crush the psyker's skull. Gozer stands, rubbing the blood and brain matter onto his robes. as he clears it off, the hand is indeed larger, and the nails like claws. He takes one claw and runs it over his other fore-arm. It cuts it like a fine razor, and blood begins to flow.

Gozer puts his mouth down to his arm to not waste the blood, before turning back to gaze at his now larger hand. "Shame about the skull, but this could prove useful," he then absently makes his way back to the dead Slaaneshi raptor.

Okay so here is how I can help:

I can do the FL warp test at a TN of 66 (int of 66, FL trained, -20 DC, +20 good quality Cerebral implants.)
I can do the tech use also at a TN of 66 (int 66, Tech use +20, -40DC, +10 combitool, +10 Utility Mechadendrite)

Note that unnatural intelligence gives me plus 2 DoS on both those.

I spent the 250 on Combat formation. So unless one of you has high agility, the +1 it grants, plus me (and the party) being able to use my int instead of ag, gives us all a +7 on initiative, you are all welcome.

Lastly, I am at 10 CP frajaq, so I get a "gift". My Infamy is 20 for my infamy test to see if I get a reward of Khorne (how awesome would it be if I passed?) I did pass, and I got hand O' Khorne!

Pillbug
Erika waves to the new arrivals as she walks towards the boarding ramp. "Erika the Red, at your service. Let's get this on the road; we have a galaxy to burn."

Pausing briefly to investigate the pile of weapons around the corpses, she concludes that none of them are even remotely worth using. Annoyed but unsurprised, she continues up into the ship, then pauses by the radio before turning back to the others.

"Oy, Vatra. You seem the talky type; would you like to try your hand at this radio? This whole "ship stealing" thing might be a little easier if they don't know something's gone wrong."

Ariston the Hekatonkheir

"Hnn," Ariston muttered as the scavenger described the Dead Shark's appointed escort. He had fought both alongside and against Plague Marines and he knew them to be fearsomely resilient warriors. He and his growing band of misfits and outcasts (amongst which the Word Bearer was grudgingly included) could no doubt seize the other vessel by force if necessary, but both ammunition and power were precious here and battling one of Nurgle's chosen could easily tax both.

"Very well. If he should seek to oppose us then he will die like the others. Now go and stow what cargo there is for now, I would hold council with my warband, such as it is." Leaving them to their work he stepped over to where Gozer and Opifex were, gesturing for the two techsmiths to accompany him.

"It is unwise to speak too openly about one's weakness, not to mention unseemly," he murmured once they were out of earshot of the recently cowed scavengers. "When I was banished to this world I found that my armor was no longer my own. While seemingly complete and functional it lacks a power supply, and that sorcerous lightning robbed me of much of my reserves. I have a little less than two hours of operational power remaining before my armor is inert. I understand that our needs are many and time is short, but if there is something aboard the Imperial vessel that could be salvaged to provide power then I will need to secure it quickly, or my combat effectiveness will be greatly diminished and we will all be at a disadvantage."

He regarded both of them in turn, warpsmith and tech-priest. "I am more suited to destruction than creation, and so I require your assistance. Somewhere on this world is a city built from the bones of a lost space hulk, and within that city is the so-called Scavenger Lord. I have seen him through the wyrd's eyes...he is a warpsmith, clad in master-crafted armor, surrounded by battle servitors and other Astartes. And he controls a spaceport, almost certainly the only one upon this planet. Help me remain battle-ready, and I will help you seize the spaceport and secure passage offworld, over the Scavenger Lord's corpse if need be."

A boy and his dog.
Opifex

Cleaning and bandaging the gash across his chest, Opifex looks at the most recent additions to their makeshift group. "I'm Opifex. Warpsmith, mostly of Tzeentch." Later, when they're hauling the dead raptor onto their new ship, he gathers the rest of the group who seemed likely to have some talent with medicine or technology to assist Gozer and himself in removing the raptor's armour as intact as possible. "I think I can remove the dead raptor form within his armour, or at least enough of him to allow parts of the armour to be recovered, but it's not a one man job, at least not without more functional mechadendrites than I currently have." His unpowered medicae mechadendrite hangs limply off his shoulder, looking very sad.

Opifex kneels next to the "Victus, I'll need an extra pair of hands, if you don't mind getting them dirty in a non-violent context for a change." He starts scribbling lines on the raptor's armour with his Crayola-pattern Salmon-coloured Wax Marking Tool. "This here is where his body would usually lay within the suit, assuming it's relatively unmodified mark 5." In dotted lines, he adds various lumps and bumps onto the previous lines. "These are the most likely sites of mutation. While the warp is fundamentally unpredictable, there are some consistencies in its effects on the astartes physique." Smearing blotches of pink wax here and there seemingly at random, he continues. "These are where we can expect most of the connections between the armour and the flesh to have taken place, as they have porous inner padding of the armour resting against relatively flexible and quickly regenerating tissues. When we cut into those, I'll need you to help me suck out the flobby goopy bits with this here syringe when I cut them loose from the armour so that we can make some space in there to work with. " He looks at the tools in the medi-kit and back at Victus. They had first aid supplies, not an operating theatre. "I may also need you to pretend you're a clamp, but I'll tell you more about that when we get there."

After the two medicae are done detaching the dead raptor from his power armour, Opifex drags the now even more bloody corpse to Gozer, leaving behind a pile of torn skin and assorted globs of decaying warp-touched adipose tissue. Nurgle would probably be pleased if they left that pile in the sun for a few hours. "Should come off now, if you want to take it apart. Mark 5's all newfangled to me, I know some of the other legions started using it when they ran into supply issues, but that never really touched the more mechanically inclined legions, so I haven't really had need to work on it. I'll give you hand, but you're calling the shots on how to take this thing apart without having access to the control or diagnostics cogitators."

Medicaeing myself, passes, I'm back at full wounds.

Co-opting Victus to assist with the medicae test, though if LuiCypher objects, the test would pass without him too. I did the medicae test part, Werix gets the tech-use test. Two people assisting should bring the difficulty down to a -20, so Gozer don't screw this up. I'm bad at the whole remember to roll 4 separate tests thing so they're a bit messy, but all of them pass doesn't really matter. Rolled a 100 on one of the forbiddne lore checks so one set of crayon smudges is in the wrong place, but the medicae test passed anyway, so again, doesn't matter.

Gozer

Gozer watches in fascination as Opifex gets to work. Surely the biological form is rather complicated. Gozer never dwelt much on it; for him it was merely a vessel containing the sacred liqueur of Khorne. For his purposes he only ever needed how to get blood out of a body, and thankfully that is a very easy affair. He glances down at the work that the Warpsmith has done.

"Yes, I see you have removed most of the offending tissue. The problem is going to occur with the Black Carapace. Removing the armor from the greatly corrupted carapace connectors could cause irreparable damage; or at least with the lack of equipment I have here."

Gozer reaches into his robe with his new enlarged hand and pulls out his combitool, handing it to Erika/b]. He then turns to both of them, "We will start with the extremities first, to see how bad the connectors are, and as the chest piece is the most valuable of the armor set." Gozer gets to work on the arms first. Unable to get a good grip with his new digits, it takes the aid of Erika to help him get under the armor and get at the connectors. Slowly lifting the gauntlets, he reaches in with his utility mechadendrite and begins to carefully sever the connectors, having to scrape away quite a bit of corrupted flesh. The only part that gives him trouble are the fingers. They've swollen to the point of being hard to get out, so in the end he just severs the fingers entirely. Grabbing his Combitool back, he hands the gauntlets off to Erika to try and get the fingers scraped out.

Having seen what he was working with, and getting used to his enlarged appendage, Gozer easily removes the legs with little difficulty, actually starting to use the metal-like nails on his large hand to help sever connections along with the combi-tool and mechadendrite.

Finally the chest-piece remains. Wanting to be careful with this one, he again gashes his own arm and begins to drip blood on the armor, and anoint it in the name of Khorne.

"Oh mighty Khorne!
Blood is the fluid of life,
And the sign of death.
It is the ultimate lubricant,
Until it scabs over into a shield.
Let this armor be salvaged,
even if it's future user does not directly worship you,
You care not from who or whence the blood flows!"

Finishing his prayer and inscribing the final runes in his drying blood, Gozer sets to work on the Torso armor. Here the mutation was at its worst, and the initial cracking of the armor is a horrid affair, but once leverage is achieved, and the first connectors severed, the work is easy going; while the torso has the most Black Carapace connectors, they are also less grouped, and easier to work around. The power supply, being connected to torso armor, is also easily removed.

Finished, Gozer lays the arm and leg armor down on the ground. He then places the torso armor behind him. "Ultimately it was not my kill, so Opifex does have the final say. But if I May leverage my labor to voice my view, I believe the Sorcerer Zegasi should receive the torso armor. As he only has unpowered leg armor right now, he is in need of the protection. We shall find some way to restore the power in your armor, Ariston. If this boat has a power source, there should be a way to recharge it."

Having said he peace, Gozer steps away from blocking the torso.

With Waci and Victus each helping, my TN goes from 66 to 86, so I pass easily. I think that Zegasi should seriously get the torso armor, lack of power source on Kai tave or no. Seriously guy is only in his knickers.

With the raptor's remains out of the armour, Opifex cuts opent he dead man's chest and tears out his heart, zapping it with one of the connectors for his luminen capacitors to singe the surface a bit. Sitting down on a crate, he takes a snack break, hoping that the body wasn't too old for him to gain some insight as to where they were from the mind of the dead marine. When Victus asks for his help, he looks at the renegade's blood-soaked bandages and gives the man an apologetic look. "Sorry, those things are going to take some time. Can't staple them shut any tighter without things building up inside you and putting pressure on your lungs."

No roll needed to assist others, but I can't treat Victus' wounds further, since an injury can only receive first aid once. After that, it's on to the realm of Extended Care tests, which means time and rest and daily medicae rolls to help you recover, but you can't be patched up in an immediate sense more than you already are unless you acquire some new wounds for us to treat.

Ariston the Hekatonkheir

Ariston watched impassively as Opifex and Gozer set to work disposing of the Raptor's remains and salvaging what they could of his armor...and once they were finished he was quietly astonished to see that despite the lack of anything resembling proper facilities they had managed to save practically all of it (except, of course, for the helmet). "I admit, I had not expected you to be able to salvage anything of worth from this Warp-twisted wretch given our current situation. You are both masters of your craft."

He turned his gaze to Zegasi for a long moment, weighing the Khornate tech-priest's words. It was his assessment that his own combat readiness was of paramount importance (naturally), but the sorcerer had proven his worth during the battle and having a psyker of their own to call upon would be a strategic asset, less so if he were laid low by a mob of scavengers or the local fauna. "There is wisdom in what you say," he eventually said, albeit grudgingly. "An Astartes without his armor is an Astartes still, but it was his gambit which laid the Raptor low. Cunning such as that merits reward...the armor is his if he desires it. I shall trust you to find another way to restore my own then."

With his mighty intellect, Opifex and his helper Victus and the medkit all help scoop out the twisted organic bits from the Raptor's suit. Everyone smells the stink of corruption as patches of skin, gore, muscle and bone are put in a pile nearby. When they're finished the medkit is now completely spent and useless, but ll four pieces of the suit are ready to be carefully taken off, as the body of the late Raptor very likely twisted some of the arcane mechanisms of the suit itself.

Medicae test passed on all four pieces. Victus's Medkit gone.

It's at this time that Gozer leads the "operation" with his mechadendrites and his helpers Opifex and Erika the Red. Whenever the new gigantic Hand of Khorne makes a delicate part of the process hard, his two assistants are there to help him. Soon the final locking bolt is disengaged from the black and pink breastplate, the gauntlets and leggings already taken care off and ready to use. Now the only piece remaining is the precious atomic power generator at the back...

Werix I was wrong at IRC earlier, Waci did get the sustainable power source off, now it only needs a Tech-Use for that piece too.

But now the Heretics have the Arms/Body/Legs part of a Power Suit ready to split between whoever needs it. They're all the usual Mark 5, so they give 8 AP.

Vatra the Whisperer

A little misdirection was just the thing for this situation. The Apostate walked over towards the ship helm and reached out to pick up the vox-caster, when he began speaking his voice was far different from the eloquent speak that he had used previously in interactions with their makeshift warband, but a deep more guttural version of low gothic that made him sound far more common than he really was.

"Rust Wave to Dead Shark. Stragglers put up a fight, lost a skimmer and a few bodies. Overwhelmed them quickly, not much loot here. Interrogated captive, says their promethium supply is on the other side of the wreck near your location. Also says it's being guarded by the entirety of the survivors. They think they can haggle their way off the ship with it. Suggest you attack in force so we can get whats ours. Will head over to assist with loading it up once we're finished stripping the valuables here. Over.

Setting the delicate looking vox-caster back in proper place Vatra turned to address his new 'allies'. Speaking low enough to deter nosy scavengers just in case a backup vox was hanging around somewhere, it would be in their best interests not to be found out. His voice switched from the scratchy hoarse voice from before to his confident and impeccable normality.

"I suggest we finish up whatever we have to do here quickly, namely loading the promethium over there. If they buy my little gambit then we will need to be on the move after a bit of a delay. While they've sent their strongest inside the ship to kill off the imaginary defense they're looking for we simply pull up, kill off the small guard they will have no doubt left, then double our fleet size in an instant. At that point we can either ransom them into our command or simply leave them on the wreck to starve off or drown."

Hold up a sec." the person on the radio steps away to talk to another one, it's too far away to hear anything clear but the other voice sounds way deeper and growler to be a human. If he hadn't present to see things for himself he doubted that he could have been able to discern that the man wasn't who he claimed to be.

A useful ally...but also potentially a treacherous one.

"A sound plan," he said once the vox connection had been terminated. "We should proceed quickly, but with care. Wiping his face clean on one of the rags he had collected from a corpse, the cannibalistic nurglite looks around in consideration. With safety, in the form of a large group of well armed people, and sustenance at hand, shelter was the next need, and secure shelter seemed to be in short supply at the moment. His eyestalks rove about, glossing over the surgery being performed on the nightlord and the nameless scavengers who stood about. Those few here who had earned the respect of the gods were obvious in the way they carried themselves.

"Sorry for my distraction, brothers. I find that stressful situations tend to make me rather... peckish. Now, I'll be honest here. I don't know where we are, I don't know who most of you are, and I have no idea what is going on. Although, none of that really matters, I guess. So my question is, what can I offer you that will prove that I am useful to you. My name is Lucius, called the Devourer in some sectors. I work as a mercenary and enforcer for anyone influential enough to earn my respect. I tend to deal in favors and promises rather than in currency, but given my much reduced state, I suppose I can make my rates more negotiable than usual."

The death priest takes to his feet and stretches for a moment. "Now, from the discussion, it looks like power may be an issue for some of you? Tell you what, we just killed a few techpriests in the ship. One or two of them must have an intact potentia coil that you can use to stretch things out. Might be some other useful stuff too. I suggest we depart for the Dead Shark immediately and worry about salvage once we only have bodies to deal with."

The Apostate listened intently as the nurglite he had been campaigning with introduced himself more formally. An enforcer for hire certainly piqued his interest, especially considering the severity of the current situation. A strong right hand was worth more than any amount of currency on a world like this. This could certainly turn towards a mutually beneficial relationship for two of them. Vatra closed to a more intimate distance with the Death Priest, unwilling to leak information unnecessarily to the others.

"You have seen my... talents at work already, Devourer, and I yours. Killing men with my own two hands has never been something I have excelled at, however I am quite seasoned at combat more of the cerebral variety. I would like to enlist your services towards both of our ends. This planet is inhospitable, cruel, and treacherous. If you lend me your martial strength I will see that you do not have to watch over your shoulder awaiting the betrayal and schemes of others. And perhaps even once we find ourselves off this place we may continue the relationship, I intend on reclaiming what was once mine and more, at the very least that entails the formation of a proper war band and the destruction of this sector. If you are thinking that I myself am treacherous and scheming, you would be right. I will tell you this once and with all honesty however; I reward and treasure those that are loyal to me, for loyalty is what is truly rare in this universe. The valuable giant shrimp meat that could be used to feed the crew and non-astartes Heretics (with the exception of Lucius who can pretty much eat anything) for a few weeks, already ruined a little by Ariston once, is now completely useless after the being used as cover in the combat a short time ago. One of the experienced crew tells that they already have enough food supplies for a week, exactly the time it takes to get back to Sky Reach. With the extra promethium found, you now have enough for two weeks of travel.

Reminder of the loot from the metal crates earlier:
- 400 packs of lho-sticks, each one has 20 lho-sticks inside
- 200 servings of Recaf
- 40 poor quality porno pics

With the addition of the escaped prisoners you now have a 35 Horde of combatant people, wearing Scavanged Armor (3 AP), Scavenged Autoguns and poor quality blade weapons.

As the Heretics are finished boarding the Rust Wave, Erika The Red walks up to the ship's control to familiarize herself with how this ship in terrible condition worked, which of the non-combatant crew where stationed and how to talk to them. If she was really high right now and with a powerful imagination, the Pirate Princess could almost believe she was back in her voidship before the mutiny! With a couple of yells at the right people, the Rust Wave moves forward, knocking out detritus from the Imperial wreck nearby away with loud *CLANGS*. If anything, at least this scavenger ship is sturdy enough.

It takes a few minutes for your stolen ship to circle around the slowly sinking wreck to the other side, where you finally see the shape of the other scavenger ship. As you approach it by the side you notice that the Dead Shark is bigger than yours, although only horizontally, broader, almost bloated. The shoddy paint of it has a sick greenish tone to it, and it looks in even poorer maintenance than yours, yet it's still standing proud.

As your ship slows down to stand perfectly side by side with the Dead Shark, you see some grim figures standing guard above it. They look and are equipped similar to your own crew, but a few look tougher and sluggish, most with symbols dedicated to the Lord of Decay engraved crudely on their armor and weapons. Standing above them is a officer-looking mutant, morbidly obese and carrying a massive axe with foul noxious slime leaking from it.

It takes a few seconds for him to realize, after the boarding ramps are lowered, that the astartes standing in the Rust Wave are not the allied ones also serving the Scavenger Lord. The realization on the message received earlier hits at once. "We were tricked! To arms! In the name of our Father Plaga defend this ship. Hurry to the vox caster and warn him of this betrayal!!" Two of the combatant enemy crew break off from the formation and run towards the communication cabin of the ship.

I'm too lazy to do a map now, also we'll not use initiative right now and just go by posting order since you kinda took them by surprise.

All the enemies are 15 meters away from you and can be reached by foot since there's a boarding ramp linking the two ships:
A 25/25 Combatant Crew Horde
The Nurgle Officer standing at front
Two mooks that broke off from the horde running to warn Plaga what just happened. They're at -20 BS and +20 WS to hit.

Ariston the Hekatonkheir

Ariston took the measure of the crew of the Dead Shark as Erika took charge of the Rust Wave, bringing them alongside the other vessel, and found them wanting. If anything they were an even more motley collection of dregs and castaways than the one they had just cowed into submission, and both the men and the vessel itself bore the telltale signs of Nurgle's so-called blessing. Little wonder they adored their so-called champion. It would be a miracle, he thought darkly to himself, if any of their supplies weren't hopelessly contaminated.

But that was a concern for later. Already the boarding ramps were lowering and he stood at the front, shield held ready. When the call went out to vox the Plague Marine he quickly plucked the heavy fragmentation grenade from his armor, depressing the activation stud with his thumb. "Fight or flee, you will die all the same!," he shouted, lobbing the explosive towards the massed scavengers.

I'm placing myself at the head of the group in case of hilarious grenade mishaps. Quick draw to grab the Legion Frag Grenade, half action aim (+10), half action standard attack (+10 again), base BS 70. I'd like to try and hit both the fleeing scavengers and any other enemies I can at the same time, be it the mob or the big fat dude.

Quickly checking his armor's new legs to make sure they were integrated properly, Bazroth began another headlong charge across the boarding ramp against the largest target. Gozer

Gozer rocks pack and forth as the boat makes its way to it's destination. The Heretek wasn't that used to to ocean travel, but luckily the travel wasn't long enough for any potential sea sickness to kick in. Gozer wasn't normally a fighter, and this wasn't any exception. He takes up position, waiting for a counter attack.

With my agility of 28 it would take me forever to close the distance with anyone, so letting them come to me. Trying to take cover or some poo poo.

Victus

Victus grinned again. Looking back on his fellow heretics, he knew that while he could help to dispatch the Nurglite by aiding the Word Bearer, there were none in the group that were as fast as he was. The speed of Slaanesh combined with the strength of Khorne flowed through his body and empowered him in ways that even Chaos Undivided would approve of. These two traits, in league with his natural skill with a weapon, would spell doom for those trying to warn the so-called Father Plaga.

Launching himself through the air at an unnatural speed at one of them, Victus would send these minions to meet Father Nurgle far sooner than He expected.

Charging the mooks running to warn Father Plaga via vox-caster. With a charge of 36, I don't think they can run away from me very well. Despite the -10 to the poor quality weapon, the +20 from the charge and +20 to hit with WS that you're giving us for hitting them should make up for it.

Ariston grenade flies in the air to land in the middle of the nurglite castaways, it explodes violently, launching pieces of fetid gore, guts, entrails, bone and diseased muscle around the deck of the Dead Shark (Deals 5 magnitude damage)

The Word Bearer Bazroth misjudges his distance from Plaga's officer and swings his massive crozius too soon, missing the bloated target by a few inches. (Rolled a natural 100)

The vicious Victus suffers a similar fate, as the swift thrust with the Erika's blade goes in the space between the two castaways. Though this forces them to stop running towards the vox, furious eyes at Renegade. (Rolls 92)

The morbidly obese castaway leader does a mixture of growl and laughter. "Growahahaha! You have made a grave mistake invading our Father's ship. His Machine was too big to enter the passages in the wreck behind us, but will have no problem outside to slain you all! We'll use your flesh to raise maggots for food!" After he says this, an horizontal metal door on their deck opens, and out springs forth a disgusting floating daemon engine dedicated to Nurgle.

The hideous mixture of machine and flesh is too much and makes you wanna retch, his mix of weapons pointed toward you no doubt all poisonous and irradiated.

Everyone here roll a +0 Willpower test due to Fear(2) from this Blight Drone.

Pillbug
Erika the Red

The ship ride had almost been pleasant. It was nice to be back at the controls of something again, yelling orders at a crew of savage maniacs, even if her only real experience was in flying voidships. It was pretty similar, all things considered; just fewer dimensions and more air.

She'd been in the middle of choosing a target from the crowd awaiting them on the Dead Shark, content to let the others rush in first, when the damned Plague Drone arrived. It wasn't bad so far as daemons went; she'd talked face-to-face with things that made her skull throb far more. It may have brought a flesh-peeling stench and an intimidating array of weaponry, but that was no reason to panic. After all, it would probably take a while for it to gun down the crowd of scavengers they'd brought, and that left plenty of time to improvise a way to kill it. How tough could one daemon engine be, really?

Content that the situation was in hand, she turned and charged the mutants staring at Victus, aiming a good running kick for the one on the right. If she left Victus to fight them alone, the mutant bastards could harm her precious sword even more, or worse, lay their dirty polluting hands on it.

Charge the mutant on the right and make an unarmed attack (1d5-3+4) at total WS 85 (45 + 20 charge +20 running).

Zegasi

The warband had the element of surprise, at least. There was just the one small problem of the plague drone at hand, for like many daemons (or vessels for daemons), it radiated a palpable aura of terror. And Zegasi didn't have all the effects from his hypno-conditioning anymore, did he?

For a moment, the sorcerer faltered, before he felt the counter-aura of...hope?...behind him. Evidently Vatra's pull with Slaanesh extended to more than just his tongue. Willpower +0, TN 65: 1d100 68 This would be a failure...if not for the fact that Vatra also has Radiant Presence, which gives +10 to WP tests to resist fear if you're within 20m. (Thus the modified TN is 75.) Really, failing my first fear test would just be embarrasing as a psyker.

Normally the minions of the Plague Lord would be a top priority...but two fools had broken off to warn Plaga, and that simply would not do if the warband were to divide and conquer. Zegasi revved his chainsword and ran to join Victus.

Lucius the Devourer

"Brothers! You should rejoice! You are all going to die, but I shall ensure that your bodies rot in the sea breeze in honor of our Grandfather! Your flesh shall become immortal in a cycle of birth, death, decay, and consumption! Fight bravely and well and I will wear your untanned skin until it falls away in rot!" As the combat begins, a feeling of giddyness begins to consume Lucius. It was a feeling that he was long used to, one of the early gifts that Grandfather Nurgle had given him... he had thought it gone with the rest of his blessings, but apparently it had merely been hidden deeply.

To earn immortality, risks must be taken. Sometimes careful planning and deals were enough to hold death at bay, but other times it would take a reckless abandon, a complete lack of any sense of fear or safety, that would bring one through an encounter alive. So often it was hard to tell when it was time to let go of the cold and calculating part of his mind, to let the primal savagery replace it... and in these times, Nurgle stepped in to keep his part of the bargain, causing the little parasites in his blood to begin breeding rapidly, and in doing so produce a waste product that induced a state of euphoric carelessness similar to that of a Slaaneshites vaunted combat drugs.

In his madness, even as his new companions quailed away from the mighty blight drone that rose into the air, Lucius only laughed madly as he began to charge forwards, his blades held at the ready. Nurgles children would feed well today on the spilled viscera.

Erika and Zegasi rush to aid Victus against two nurglite castaways. The Pirate Princess lands a flying kick in the head of the one in the right and he almost falls to the ground, he growls at her and Erika can see the full disgusting face of the nurglite, scarred with pox and other diseases. (Deals 1 damage, I'm sensing a theme here.)

His ugliness is cut short by a brutal vertical swipe from Zegasi with the looted chainsword. The Sorcerer carves part of it's right body away as he howls in agony, spraying foul blood, pus and rotten organs everywhere on the three Heretics. (Deals 14 damage)

The remaining castaway gives the three Heretics in front of him a good look and seems decided on his fate, he's gonna die but at least he could do some damage with his death. He pulls out a frag grenade, pulls the pin out and yells, raising it proudly. "FOR OUR FATHER PLAGA!" Victus is quick to react and back-flips away from the incoming explosion. Zegasi and Erika aren't that quick and suffer the full impact of it, although the Sorcerer feels nothing as the power armor breastplate and his astartes physique stops the shockwave from doing any damage. A few of the fragments hit Erika in the chest, but the Carapace armor thankfully does its job, and she merely staggers from the explosion. (Only Victus passes the Agility test to dodge away. Zegasi soaks the damage and Erika suffers 2 Damage.)

The large mob of nurglite castaways in front of Ariston start a coordinated charge in his direction. The Veteran holds his boarding shield tight and prepares for impact. He feels the bones of his arm shake as the enemy slams at him with fury, they slowly circle around him, and a few manage to sink their blades in the joints of the Mark 6 armor. The enemy blades are covered in foul slimes and toxins, but the astartes physiology is quick to counteract against it. (Ariston suffers 2 damage. Resists Toxic(1).)

The castaway officer and Bazroth continue to trade blows with each other, to no result. The enemy tries to exploit the helmet-less state of the Word Bearer in front of him, swinging hard horizontally at his head, but fortunately the attack goes wild over his head, almost making him lose balance. (Nurgle officer tries a Called Shot but misses.)

The monstrosity that is the Blight Drone daemon engine is almost enough to make the Rust Wave's combatant crews turn tail and run, but the sight of Bazroth standing his ground against the enemy leader fills them with confidence in their success. They try a counter charge against the enemy mob circling Ariston, but only manage to push them back as blades, punches and kicks are traded between the two forces. (Your Horde fails Fear test, Iron Discipline re-roll nails it.)

Vatra's bodyguards around the fainted master can't decide between dragging their boss away to safety or standing their ground, in the end they just surround Vatra in the direction of the fight.

The vicious combat in the middle gains another participant, as a maddened and frenzied Lucius enters the fray, stabbing a castaway in the chest with brutal force, making him hit the metal floor and die. (Deals 1 magnitude damage.)

The big Blight Drone hovers around as it chooses a target amongst the enemy group. The sight of Opifex pulling out a multi-melta is enough to make him focus the Warpsmith first. A disgusting flexible mouth-cannon thing fires a deadly explosive glob of the foulest materials that can possibly exist, fortunately Opifex is quick enough to duck as the glob explodes behind him, slowly forming a corrosive crater in the hulk of Rust Wave.

Enemies left:

Absolution
Bazroth, Word Bearer

Ducking below the bloated officer's swing, Bazroth brought the crozius upward in a reckless manner, but one that would hopefully cleave the monstrosity in half.

WS 50 + Hatred 10 + AllOutAttack 30 = TN 90. Furious Assaulting at TN 90 if the first swing hits. Concussive.

Zegasi

If charging worked so well the first time, why not try it a second time? That only works if you're not going over the side, silly. Though points for charging the plague-monger. After casting a quick power, Zegasi charged for the commanding officer; if he were brought down then there would be none to command the enemy scavengers.

Presuming Bazroth doesn't kill his target, Zegasi will:
  • Use Precognitive Strike at Fettered as a Free Action. (TN 50 = 40 Base +10 Trained -10 power +10 PR2)
  • Charge the officer as a Full Action. (TN 90 = 60 Base +20 Charge +10 two-on-one, and +10 if PS goes off)

If Bazroth does kill his target, cast Warptime at Fettered (TN 65) and move towards the Blight Drone with a Half-Action Move.

"Ow. Stupid Nurgle bastards."

Shaking off the minor concussion, Erika turns and draws her bolt pistol. Content that the officer was well in hand and the drone distracted, she aimed at a mutant at the periphery of the horde and pulled the trigger.

Fallen Rib
Ariston the Hekatonkheir

A daemon engine...perhaps this planet would provide him a worthy challenge yet.

Ariston was a veteran of innumerable battlefields and had borne witness to far more terrible sights than a single war-machine of Nurgle led by a band of cankerous rabble. The drone's baleful presence was as nothing against the armor of his contempt, nor did he flinch as the howling crew of the Dead Shark descended upon him with rusty blades, hacking and stabbing. He felt the brief feverish flush of his enhanced immune system waging its own battle against the Nurglite's befouled weapons, a battle it handily won.

"Crush them! Leave none alive!," he shouted to the horde of scavengers that now served his newly formed warband even as he fell back amongst them, letting them screen him from further distraction as he readied a reprisal of his own against the drone. He grabbed the krak grenade, his last, from his armor's hip-mounting, briefly taking aim before lobbing it and its shaped-charge payload at the repulsive construct.

Testing against Fear at TN 53, I get a 15 so no effect.

Then I'll take a half action to disengage from melee with the horde by moving back into OUR horde. I suffer a free attack but gently caress it, whatever. Then free action to Quick Draw my Legion Krak Grenade and a half action to chuck that sucker at the Plague Drone, BS 50, +10 standard attack, +20 size, total TN 80.

Gozer

As the blight drone appears in front of him, all his weak biological faculties take over. he wasn't a fighter, despite the joke of a gift Khorne just gave him. He was a fething smith! He knew only how to fight so that way he could test the blades and weights on his weapons. Plus look at them! They were all in scraps! Gods, one of the fething astartes was only in unpowered leg armor until just recently!

He wasn't going to die for this lot, Khorne no. If he ran and hid, maybe once it was all over, he could still get in with good graces with whomever survives, be it his new friends, or the vastly superior Nurgle cult.

The duel between the bloated nurglite and Bazroth continues non-stop, and the Word Bearer simply cannot find an opening against his opponent. He tries a risky maneuver to topple the castaway officer down for good, only for the attack accidentally scrape the uneven deck of the Dead Shark. (Rolls 97 and misses.)

Looking at the nurglite officer, Zegasi tries to channel psychic focus in his hands as warp lightning crackles around him. Unfortunately there is a lapse in concentration and the spell fizzles out, perhaps the presence of a daemon engine dedicated to an opposing god had an effect on you? (Rolls 91 on focus power)

Regardless, you still have your martial prowess with you. The Sorcerer charges forward with enough force to make the ground beneath him tremble, chainsword ready to viciously tear the enemy apart. The nurglite sees the other astarte coming and brings his axe up to parry the swipe. Chain teeth and contaminated blade meet, sparks flying around. The bloated castaway roars. "Even two marines cannot bring me down! NURGLE GRANTED ME FORTITUDE! YOUR END DRAWS NEAR!" (Charge hits, but enemy parries it.)

The huge enemy nurglite mob roars in confidence, cut short by Erika snapping a bolt shot at them, the round exploding the arm of one, sending a few fragments and bone to ruin another castaway nearby. (Deals 2 magnitude damage)

As Ariston struggles to get away from the mob to help against the dangerous blight drone, the nurglites take advantage of this moment to attack him with cleavers in weak spots of the armor like before, this time sinking their toxic blades even further in his body. Again you feel your immune system working hard to counter-act against the poison, succeeding yet again. (Suffers 3 damage from the opportunity attack. Passes Toughness test again to resist Toxic(1).) The desperate throw of your krak grenade flies in the air, towards of the daemon engine's turbine. Whatever malevolent intelligence residing in the machine's shell sees the danger coming, it tilts and hovers away, as the krak grenade explodes and forms a huge crater on the metal deck. (Grenade throw hits, but is dodged, he's out of Reactions)

Meanwhile, the Heretics notice that Gozer running away scared, into some stairs that lead to the below decks of the Rust Wave.
