Bolow posted:Sunshine was nearly loving perfect except they had to gently caress it all away with that dumb dumb dumb plot twist the plot twist would have been fine if it hadnt turned into loving ridiculous superhuman strength berserker macguffin like you could have had a guy who snapped and turned psychopath because space nihilism without him turning into the skinless super strong monster man really disappointing imo in an otherwise great film

If speculative fiction about a post-nuclear wasteland is not considered sci-fi then whatever genre they are getting moved to is in for a good time.

Yodzilla posted:You put Cube on that list but not Cube2: Hypercube?? Cube is one of those movies I really wish would get a remake. I think someone with a larger Hollywood budget but a practical sensibility could do absolute wonders with that premise. Plus y'know, theoretically better actors. Waltzing Along posted:Children of Men is ranked below Galaxy Quest? Well yeah, Galaxy Quest works all the way through and Children of Men really doesn't. Those tracking shots sure are great though.

I'd call Mr. Nobody a scifi since it has scifi elements to the same way The Fountain does. It's on netflix, I haven't finished it yet, but its very.... cloud atlas/vanilla skyish. Pretty cool. Need a blurb? Mr. Nobody is the last living mortal, and at 118, he's on deaths door. Everyone's real curious about him, but he's old as gently caress and his memories keep fading away and intermingling.

Empire Strikes Back absolutely needs to be god tier. Episodes 4 and 6 can stay where they are though. E: Blade Runner should definitely be god tier as well.

The Island totally deserves to be in good despite the silly product placement, which can be looked back on in a different light now anyway. It has beautiful industrial art design and lighting, particularly in the beginning and a cool engaging story about organ harvesting that only really faltered towards the end. I think its way underrated. Also District 9 in flawed but fun is ridiculous, I'd put it in god tier (the shakey cam is really nullified on a TV size screen if that's what bothers people). Also also Minority Report should be in good, wtf is it doing below Hunger games
