also they were required to interface with dozens (hundreds?) of providers and lol surprise oregon didnt do poo poo about making sure the providers gave documentation or anything until like a week before go-live

once when i quit a job, the boss people lost their poo poo because they considered me to be "irreplaceable" (hint: nobody is ever irreplaceable). one of the directors took me to the pub and said, while looking at the floor and shaking his head sadly, "um, well... the other boss guys told me to offer you money. i have ten grand in cash on me - it's yours if you stay.". he was clearly horribly embarrassed because he knew i wouldn't take it. i was leaving because it was a totally horrific place to work. i told him sorry, it's not about the money, and he just nodded, with his eyes shut, still pointing his face at the floor. i did not take the money. he didn't finish his beer. that is my story.
