I used to rent capcom games and cut the points out of the manual. Then send away for joysticks and poo poo. I feel like if I did this today TLC would give me my own show.

Pretty sure paying $25 for a VHS made rental very important. Now you can buy DVDs for like $10 after a few months on top of netflix killing them. DVDs becoming more affordable in the 2000s built the coffin, pirating dug the grave and netflix was the 6 feet worth of dirt thrown on top.

The video king on the other side of town let me rent 5 movies $5 5 days back in the mid 90's. I think once the movie hit a year or year and a half it fell under that class. I could rent 5 terrible horror movies and watch them all weekend with my friends.
