Sure they look doofy, but there are plenty of official units (like that new Space Wolf gunship) that look no less doofy. Official models aren't usually upsidedown terminators though

Can you guess what these were being sold as? There were like 5 or 6 lots from the same seller of these. Cataphractii Terminator Conversions There was also this thing. $85 "Imperial guard tank with hook nice conversion nicely paint" The sellers entire ebay store is incredibly mediocre-to-bad conversions priced from $50-$200. Everything looks like it fell in watery mud.

JcDent posted:A few days ago, one guy on FoW FB page posted something about feeling "uncomfortable" about playing WWII Germans. I managed to refrain from calling him a few choice words I learned during my tenure on 4Chan, but only barely so. I'd say this kind of sentiment is no less absurd than atheist not playing DnD because there are gods or a Christrian not playing DnD because there a gods (instead of God). As a Canadian I wouldn't personally want to play a WWII German army but I wouldn't care if someone else did (assuming that they weren't a neo-nazi). The problem is that neo-nazis are still around in many parts of the world and the nazis did some pretty loving horrific things and that kinda sucks the fun out of pushing little tanks around and rolling dice. Also, stop getting so mad about tabletop games, it isn't healthy. E: Half your posts have been about how you get knee-jerk mad about things, I'm worried about you Improbable Lobster fucked around with this message at 18:15 on Nov 19, 2014 |

rkajdi posted:I also think the figures you're showing are smaller scale here. Think 10-15mm, vs. "heroic" 28mm (closer to 32mm) that's used in GW or Privateer stuff. A lot of the techniques used on bigger figures don't work as well on smaller stuff. I'll also say that dipping came in from the historical side IME-- I'd seen and used it there on stuff well before it became en vogue for alt figures. The move towards 28mm wargames has improved painting dramatically in ancients, and you now see much nicer armies. I posted the Fatcrons and Mantis Marine more because they look really goofy rather than because of any technical issues. I'd field an army paintes up to either standard (hell, they're both better than many of my models) but I don't think I'd use either conversion. I'd post the Fatcron destroyers, which actually looked pretty good, but I'm phone posting.
