4.7" I will have try but I'm suspecting it's gonna be too big to use comfortably in one hand. If the 5 were much bigger it would be uncomfortable to use.

I hope Apple is trolling by leaking all this poo poo about 5.5" screens.

in airplanes and other navigation systems, relative pressures are used, be it from a known value at nearby airport at a fixed elevation or from the previous local measurements to provide a relative change in elevation as a hint to a primarily GPS derived elevation solution

so, um… are we bothering to maintain those satellites? because they seem kind of important and gps has been around for a while now,

yeah, GPS satellites have to be in geosynchronous orbit, which means they have to regularly burn fuel to stay in orbit and in position, and we cant feasibly refuel out there so it's run-it-till-the-hydrazine-tank's-dry and then you have a dead satellite that will eventually re-enter. In theory theyre supposed to use the last eighth of a tank or whatever to boost it up to the graveyard, but i'll let you guess how fastidious the Russians were about that as the soviet union broke up etc etc.

geosynchronous orbit is way the gently caress out there, almost every satellite is much closer

the u.s. just launched a ton of gps satellites so at any one time there are more than a few within range

they do. also, the american-run GPS constellation (which is one of three, the other two being russian GLONASS and the new european Galileo system) has been seeing more or less constant launches since the late 70s with launches still continuing. the satellites launched are also constantly improving and changing. one example is how the constellation used to purposefully give civilian receivers only 100-meter precision. once people who knew what they were doing got around the issue with differential receivers, the gov't gave up on it and modern satellites actually can't do that anymore.

the iphone 5 had a 1GB of ram, 64bit executables are bigger and the 5s also has 1GB

on paper you have less available ram running the same apps on a 5s as a 5
