That and IIRC, Microsoft even gives the NSA a heads up on the ones they find themselves before patching them up.

having no limit on the amount of attempts you can make to login to find my iphone is pretty shameful, but there's a lot of steps between that fuckup and being able to login to an account that you don't even have the email address for. i wouldn't be surprised if this had nothing to do with icloud.
