a scientist, like an astronomer for example, researches the stars a biologist researches fish and dogs etc a computer "scientist" however researches computers? BUT a computer is built by PEOPLE, so we already know all the parts and what they do not a real "SCIENCE" if you ask me

normally scientists are called "anthopologist" or "physicist" why dont computer scientists call themselves "computerists"? because they need to tell everyone theyre "scientists" or else nobody would believe them

but working w/ computers is very complicated you say? well maybe spend some time making them easier to USE then!!

lollin at all the engineering programs that have to put up with cs departments in the same building, they should be confined to the math building where they belong

computing (calculating, counting, etc.) existed before computers (the machines) existed. they should go with math though yuo'r a load of horsecrap hth

computer science is better known by the more accurate nomenclature "programming" also, this seems like a good thread to renew my petition to remove voting rights for both engineers and programmers

only advantage is now that i mainly work with biologists most of them don't know much about computers and are v. impressed by anything i do with them and it's hard for them to detect what a fraud i am

yeah "programming and maths and X" where X is a traditionally non-quantitative field is a v good combination right now
