I think the narrative is still that he is a very good defensive CF so if people still believe that and see that he's a league average hitter, that's probably worth a decent chunk of money at his age to someone.

Scob posted:Colby is still pretty young its going to be interesting what kind of deal he gets this offseason. He could make a nice corner outfield platoon for some team. He's never really been that good at fielding center. Nate McLouth got 10 million guaranteed over 2 years with a 3rd year team option from the Nationals after posting a roughtly average season by WAR (fWAR liked him a lot more than rWAR) with the Orioles last season. I'm sure there's a market for Colby.

I love how they had to title the article SATIRE

This is the kind of article you'd see on the Onion or some other satire news website. That it made it to the Yahoo! Sports news, even briefly, is hilarious. Did the article at Camden Chat have the disclaimer on it when it was first posted? I doubt it, but does anyone know? Because if not, I'm willing to bet they put it on there so their little joke wouldn't trick any more sports news sites.

No it didn't originally have the tag, but it's was obvious if you read it that it was satire. This being the Internet, they had to add the disclaimer after.

Josh Hamilton left a little message for Boston with his signature on the Green Monster:Jeremiah 19:11 posted:This is what the LORD Almighty says: I will smash this nation and this city just as this potter's jar is smashed and cannot be repaired. That's cool but his one in "19" looks different from his ones in "11," and if people misread it...Jeremiah 29:11 posted:"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Yeah that's a thing some people in KC think. They're the same ones who believe there's actually a rivalry between the Royals and Cards. On the other hand I'd imagine there are still plenty of older Cardinals fans who hate Don Denkinger and believe they were robbed, and might be slightly miffed remembering all of that should the Royals end up in the WS (in some imaginable world that isn't this one). I don't know if the Chiefs thing means anything, most of the hockey fans I know are Blues fans for no reason other than they're sort of close and there isn't anything here.

What's really scary is when people in fields that require you not to be stupid believe this, too.

Not that it wasn't a foregone conclusion for months or anything, but last night's loss eliminated The Rangers from the wild card race. First team mathematically eliminated. Injuries - 1. Rangers - 0.

There's some humour here somewhere in that Towers was basically hired because he espoused the batshit ideals of ken Kendrick, only to be fired by ken Kendrick because thinking like ken Kendrick is a terrible thing to do.
