T-Bone posted:In terms of what? Length of the draft? Whoa, I missed this. I think you mentioned that you took 3 D in the 13th Forward League, but drat, didn't realize it was this dire. I suggest trying to trade one of your big 3 D for a forward, because I think you will run into problems. Outside of Hall, do you think you have any big point producers? Maybe Tarasenko breaks out even more this year. Largo LaForge posted:Yeah, definitely ended up with some good dmen but at the time it was pretty frustrating. I'd be worried about your goalie tandem. I have zero faith in either guy. I have read that the Blues are grooming Allen this season, so he will be taking Elliott's starts (and may take over the #1 spot), and I don't have any confidence in Mason. Although, to be fair, Mason could have a Vezina-like season, and I would still doubt him. I don't like Mason. I think there's high probability that one of them falters. Other than that, I like your team. I think Barkov will be a steal (although I continue to doubt this, because, y'know, Florida)

Does standard Yahoo have +/- can't remember You're taking a hit in scoring (EStaal probably outscores Bergeron and Ryan probably out scores Iginla) but you gain in FO and +/- (mainly in +/- because as good as Bergeron is in FO EStaal wins a ton of faceoffs too). Is there a primer or anything on Fantasy Hockey? I found fantasy baseball was a great way for me to start giving a poo poo about other players besides my own team, and I kinda want to use this as a vehicle to learn the NHL better as a whole. This is literally my second year of even watching hockey with any consistency.

If you've already played fantasy baseball, fantasy hockey should be pretty easy. The formats (H2H, Rot, Auction) are the same, it's just understanding what the stats are and they're all pretty much commonly used NHL stats: goals/assists/points/gaa/sv%/wins/shutouts/+-/hits/blocks/etc.

Duckforce Alpha posted:What say you guys on this trade [10 team yahoo standard scoring] I would say no. I typically don't do trades before the season unless it's a major win for me, and I think there is potential that this deal blows up in your face. Mind you, I still view Eric Staal as the guy he has been for the majority of his career than the version he was last year, and now that Ryan is healthy, I think he could rebound. Essentially, Staal + Ryan have a higher potential (and chance) to be pretty good offensive producers this year.

Did my first draft (we're 2C, 2LW, 2RW, 1F, 4D, 1UTIL, 2G, 4B, 1IR) Stats are (A, G, P, PIM, PPP, Hits, +/- and W, Save%, GAA, SO). I was 11th, which I wasn't too thrilled about, but here it is: 1. (11) Patrick Kane (Chi - C,RW) 2. (14) Jamie Benn (Dal - LW) 3. (35) Cory Schneider (NJ - G) 4. (38) Matt Duchene (Col - C,LW) 5. (59) Henrik Zetterberg (Det - C,LW) 6. (62) Thomas Vanek (Min - LW,RW) 7. (83) Jaroslav Halak (NYI - G) 8. (86) Alex Pietrangelo (StL - D) 9. (107) Christian Ehrhoff (Pit - D) 10. (110) Bryan Little (Wpg - C,RW) 11. (131) Brad Richards (Chi - C,LW) 12. (134) Jacob Trouba (Wpg - D) 13. (155) Nazem Kadri (Tor - C) 14. (158) Dougie Hamilton (Bos - D) 15. (179) Evgeny Kuznetsov (Was - C,LW) 16. (182) Antoine Roussel (Dal - LW) 17. (203) Jake Allen (StL - G) 18. (206) Mark Scheifele (Wpg - C) The goalie run started in 3. Rask was picked 2 overall (I know) and Lundqvist was 8. Quick, Niemi(what?), Bishop, and Price all went in 2. Bob, Crawford, and MAF were gone before me in 3. I think I have solid goalies on stats, but wins could be an issue. If Allen gets a bunch of games, it could be huge for me though. I feel like I'm real bad on hits, and my PIMs are a little low, but I feel strong to very strong elsewhere, and nigh invincible in Assists. My D is a little thin, but honestly, why pick D when you have 2 extra slots for forwards? Thoughts? I was thinking of picking up Silfverberg since he was undrafted and Anaheim has so many off-days, that he could get some decent play from the bench. I'm happy enough. I teleconferenced in the first 20 picks or so while commuting home via my wife, then had her mop up the last third or so since I had to be in bed for work in the morning. I don't have any out of this world performers, but I'm happy enough. My shittiest forward is Yakupov with 24 points last season, so I can't complain about that. 1. I would say that you have too many goalies. You really only need two, preferably both starters. Maybe a third if you can get two goalies from a team that's platooning (Think Gibson-Andersen in Anaheim). In a standard league you're only going to be able to start two at a time at most, and with minimum start requirements I think it's a wasted roster spot to have goalies you won't use. Holtby is a definite starter so I'd keep him. Anderson is a starter but Lehner will get a lot of time. Andersen could easily lose his job to Gibson. My understanding is Jake Allen is going to start being groomed to be the Blues starter, but he's still gonna split a lot of time with Elliot I'd imagine. I'd drop one or two of them (probably Andersen and Allen) and pick up forwards or defensemen because they'll actually be a benefit to your team every week. 2. All of those guys are pretty much a wash. Second line 40-50ish point guys. Grabovski's two position eligibility is good though, and if he plays center he'll get faceoffs. 3. Josi and Gardiner yes, Demers maybe.

T-Bone posted:Tarasenko for $30 could be really good I think, I should have kept bidding on him If you did you probably would have won. I was at half my remaining budget with the $30 bid and had like 5 guys left to buy. e: Oh God, I'm doing this all again in 7 and a half hours for LSL.

I hope not, but I may be a bit late to the draft tonight. Hoping auto doesn't give me garbage.

You are hosed in the LSL as an auto, you almost never get goalies. LSL in two hours by the way :o

To all LSL newbies you better draft a goalie by the end of the 4th round or you're probably hosed for the entire season unless you get super lucky.

My dad was visiting from out of town so we went out for dinner. Went much later than I expected, so I didn't arrive until the 17th round - just in time to draft my 2nd goalie...Karri Ramo.
