Zzulu posted:i cant remember anything about true grit lol LaBoeuf's blue eyes sparkle as he stoops down to kiss diminutive Mattie Ross on her quivering mouth. The stink of whiskey clings to his hot breath, causing Mattie to cringe and recoil at the first sniff. "Pugnacious as ever, my hummingbird," LaBoeuf smiles and says too loudly. "You might argue that my advances on the fairer sex constitute malum prohibitum--but sager eyes than mine would concur that your coldest of spurnings is nothing less than an act of malum in se." As if on cue, he unsheathes his Sharps carbine--a crude weapon that shares more in common with a musket than a modern rifle--and draws the hammer back with a heavy cha-click. Mattie's reaction to the sound is all the confirmation LaBoeuf requires to know that his message is received. "Indubitably."

The Kevin Costner movie that came out in the same year blows because it takes the source material way too seriously, while Tombstone correctly recognizes that all people want from the myth of Wyatt Earp n friends is gun shootin' and Val Kilmer chewing scenery.
