Max has a different actor from the second episode on. I forget exactly what happened to the guy from the first episode, but he wasn't able to return, so they got someone else and re-recorded all of the reused lines (while Sam's stayed the same, obviously), and I believe the replacement actor stuck with the series throughout.

We don't know "bugger" and "bollocks" are swears here in America, that's why they're in a family-friendly game.

Exactly. In U.S. media, "bollocks," "bugger," and "bloody hell" are American shorthand for a British person saying 'crap.' It's ENGLISH English. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgPH0tYXJrA Cartheon fucked around with this message at 07:07 on Nov 24, 2014 |

What about Sod? Edit - also, 30 shillings is more accurately (at least going by monetary values upon the date of decimilisation) worth $ 3.60. Also, you'd more accurately say it was worth 1 pound and 10 shillings. Samovar fucked around with this message at 14:21 on Nov 24, 2014 |

Also, you'd more accurately say it was worth 1 pound and 10 shillings. Oh! Can I be knowledgable/pretentious about stuff? Britain only decimalised in the '70's (15th February 1971), when compared to the '60's for Australia/New Zealand, the middle of the C19th for Canada, and the end of the C18th for the USA. Interestingly, whilst Britain decimalised retaining the pound as the base unit of currency, (i.e. one old pound = one new pound) all of Canada, Australia and New Zealand choose to decimalised with 2$ = £1. This meant that 1 new-penny/cent was only 1.2 times the old penny/cent, compared to the UK penny which was 2.4 times the old value. Even today 1 CAD~1AUD~1NZD~0.5 GBP. And although the shilling was abolished as a unit of currency in 1971, 'shillings' (the coin) continued to circulate until 1991/1993 with a new value or 5p (1 shilling) or 10p (2 shillings) respectively. So - what's my point... well using online inflation calculators, 30 shillings in 1971 (i.e. the last point which the shilling was legal tender) works out at roughly £20 today... run this through GBP->USD converter and you get $30 - i.e. 1 shilling is very roughly 1 US dollar. Everything works out in the end!

Sam & Max Save The World - Situation: Comedy 02 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzdiTpelgzA I was hoping to have an update earlier in the week but I was having some broadband issues. This episode has Sam & Max in their acting debut, I'll say now that a big part of this video involves interfering with a cow. I will say now that I forgot to record the different "moo" responses. The next couple of weeks will be tight but I'm definitely planning at least one update a week.

I rather enjoyed the lyrics to the song as related to the inputs chosen. Looking forward to just how ridiculous it can get. Also, not expecting you to show off all the possibilities, because it looks like there's LOTS of 'em and it would get rather redundant. I figure if you just give us a "best of" we should be good. I mean, if it gets boring to you to record, it's gonna be just as bad to watch, but this being a Sam & Max game, there's bound to be hidden gems within.

There are also a few interesting possibilities if you disguise the cow with either the plate or shaving cream. I don't think any of them go very far, but at least one of them is rather spectacularly different from the usual pattern.

Sam & Max Save The World - Situation: Comedy 03 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAkfvlV3eFA Sam & Max start continue their TV career and are stars on a variety of shows. Which is mainly down to them being the only people available who haven't been taken hostage by Myra. But the duo are closer to getting on the set and saving the day. I should have this wrapped up in the next video in a few days time, the last five minutes of this video includes dialogue options missed in the Midtown Cowboys show from the last update.

As you might expect, there are variations on the "Who's Never Going to Be a Millionaire" puzzle. If you ask Hugh Bliss to turn blue before he asks the first question, the correct answer changes. If you get questions wrong, he'll move on to the rest of Peepers' lyrics, leading to the rather interesting revelation that the correct answer to "Can I fly?" is in fact "Yes." That surprised me.

Sam & Max Save The World - Situation: Comedy 04 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aicX0MYk2Mc The last part of Situation: Comedy, with my notes I expected a far shorter episode but forgot to take into account dialogue and such. Most of this episode is spent on Myra's couch and if you can endure that time better than I did then I applaud you. Bonus Millionaire footage is at the end of the credits. I'll be back this weekend with the first episode of "The Mole, the Mob and the Meatball." anilEhilated posted:What the hell is monk paste supposed to be? Crushed clergymen? Sam and Max Season 1 is probably the weakest in the whole Sam and Max series. It was one of Telltale's first games, and they were still getting the hang of pacing and animating. It's still good, but Telltale got way better at things later on. It's a shame that they've pretty much moved on from wacky adventure games.

Yeah, pretty much this. New game engine, new voice actors and a new format of release. It's a bit of a shaky start but they pulled it off with success in some ways. It's a shame that they decided not be a "mini LucasArts" but they could easily of continued on. The creator is busying himself with Pixar these days but hopefully it's not the end of the duo's adventures. Yvonmukluk posted:The Soda Poppers are going to Mount Rushmore? Sam & Max Save The World - The Mole, the Mob and the Meatball 01 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpKPW79ri7k A new episode and a new case, this follows on from the final moments of the last episode. You can hear the rest of the Ted E. Bear song if you keep clicking on the singing bear heads. It also appears in full later in the episode, of course, but like Whizzer's version of the Soda Poppers theme song, there's something uniquely charming about the less polished version.

I love how the rightmost bear's left eye is broken and twitches as the animatronics try to make it rotate. This episode was one of my favorites of the first season. Edit: Fun fact: 'Boris Krinkle' was the name of one of the characters in Telltale Texas Hold 'Em, a prior game of Telltale's. Leonard Steakcharmer and Boris Krinkle have the same face models, only Leonard's is a bit cleaner and adds the handlebar mustache. Neurion fucked around with this message at 06:03 on Dec 15, 2014 |

On the subject of poor French impersonations; something I wasn't aware was actually true is that French people can and do say 'ooh la la', as kinda of like an equivalent to 'oy vey' or 'oh man'.

According to Tune Up Your French, a book I own and find helpful, in French oh là là is mostly used if you're surprised either in a very positive or negative way. In America we might say it if we see a sexy dress, but in France they might say it if they suddenly find out their friend cross dresses. (If they're surprised by that sort of thing. I dunno) This is a great LP! I forgot how super fantastic the music for all these games is.

If you're looking for things to do in the final part, you can plant the bug on most of the characters. It's not particularly entertaining, but it's extra dialogue. Speaking of which, don't forget to go back to the office and talk to Leonard. It sort of undermines the joke of them abandoning him if you go right back in, but I think it's worth it. Also, yet another hint from Sybil about what career she's planning for the next episode. They're pretty subtle, but neat when you know what to listen for.
