Now that the casino is closing the employees don't give a poo poo

It just looks even worse now since there's a video of it. Nothing is going to happen.

The NFL are probably afraid that if they prevent people convicted of domestic assault from playing then they are going to lose valuable players.quote:Although this is still lower than the national average, it’s extremely high relative to expectations. That 55.4 percent is more than four times worse than the league’s arrest rate for all offenses (13 percent), and domestic violence accounts for 48 percent of arrests for violent crimes among NFL players, compared to our estimated 21 percent nationally. But at least he didn't say anything racist so we won't see any noticeable outrage from the players.

It wouldn't shock me if there are murmurs of some owners and people in the NFL offices wanting Goodell out after this. He's presiding over one misstep after another and just putting a new face on the league is a quick rememdy. There are plenty of company men in the NFL that are just as qualified as Goodell to do the job; hes expendable. Cash Monet fucked around with this message at 17:34 on Sep 8, 2014 |

Nope, any lawyer worth there salt would be able to make the argument that the NFL saw that video and thus it's not new evidence. Since there are enough conflicting reports to make it so. Also the fact that they have said what they were told lines up with the events of the video. If I'm a players union I fight like hell to defend my players from having to face double penalties due to public outcry. I may hate the person, but you can't make a concession like that, and it's bullshit to expect the union to do so. The Ravens are the only entity able to do anything(Already been handled legally) and they are only able to cut him. Dexo fucked around with this message at 17:32 on Sep 8, 2014 |

gently caress Goodell, Ravens and the NFL, but there really needs to be more discussion on why the police did nothing when this video existed, and how money just buys you out of ever having to face being prosecuted.

He got offered a plea deal of probation, and a pre-trial intervention, he was a first time offender with no priors for any other offense, and his wife didn't want to go after him. In this case they probably could have went harder after him, but it's honestly not that out of the ordinary when the victim doesn't want to go all out. Especially someone who's record was a clean as Rice's was.

football fuckerman posted:ESPN asking a former teammate to talk about this rather than any expert on domestic violence is the height of their lazy, stupid crassness This is a station that allowed, and possibly encouraged, Steven A Smith to consider what women can do differently to avoid provoking men. They're not being lazy, they deliberately pandering to the worst side of all of us that really want to see Lewis go up there and say something ridiculous that will get a ton of views. They know their audience and they know most of them will eat this poo poo up. And somehow that is infinitely worse than if they were just lazy.

Obviously his lawyers would contest that, and it sure seems like they'd have a lot of grounds to base that on. But if they hadn't, then I think that gives them the right to reopen the case and not worry about double jeopardy.
