As a white person who likes Belle and Sebastian I can confirm. If You're Feeling Sinister, Boy with the Arab Strap and Tigermilk are all good. Then they went all meh.

I actually prefer Fold Your Hands to Tigermilk, probably because it's the first Belle and Sebastian album I heard in its entirety. They're the only two that I have, anyway; I had If You're Feeling Sinister long ago, but decided I didn't like it when I first heard it and then lost it forever.
