StarlingCitizen posted:

What are you personally looking for in the FPS portion of Star Citizen?

-I just really want to shut someone's engine down, breach their ship and point a gun on their head.
But from the FPS gameplay style I would like to see more of like an Arma style gameplay, like realism and stuff, not just run and gun action, more tactical approaches and really thinking before engaging in combat.

-Swat or rainbow six. Don't know how well illfonic can execute that, though.

-Slow and tactical. I know in the past they've said it would be more like old school Rainbow 6 / ArmA, I just hope that remains true. No 3rd person view.
And finally I am looking forward to them hopefully making the decision to remodel some of the weapons they have made. They are so obviously copy/pasted from modern weapons today that it's hilarious. You go through months of different stages to get a ship looking unique and grand, then pull out an Airsoft gun, model it, throw some lights/greebles on it and call it good.

-i'm personally hoping for something that's challenging and realistic. I guess im sorta imagining something between Arma and Halo.
You can die easy enough to keep you on your toes and force you to make calculated decisions. But still have shields, adrenaline shots, things of that sort to keep you alive in a emergency.
As long as SC FPS death isn't as easy as getting killed in COD. I'll be happy.

-Honestly just some solid gameplay with a unified vision. They don't need to do anything crazy to make it good because it's going to be part of a bigger game.
That being said they are already doing some fun stuff since they've mentioned the different sized body armors, gravity and no gravity, hull breaches, cover system. It could be interesting.

Be careful with crowdfunding.

1.) Transverse isn't doing anything on any of the major crowd funding sites.

2.) Transverse had said NOTHING about what happens if it fails to get funding via the crowd funding route.

There is a VERY good chance that you put money in and get nothing out.

Can the PGI crew please comment on this? What happens if you don't hit 1.5 million? Or a million?

Frankly i am disappointed that the forums do not presently have a report button that i am able to see or i would flag this post for immediate moderation and ban because your attitude is frankly disgusting
This game is not in need of your unique brand of intense negativity, this is a beautiful newborn in need of love but also in need of the parents having the freedom to raise their child as they see fit and if that means spanking it and send it to bet without supper that is their right to do so and ultimately is for the best for the community

This is a time when we all need to have faith that the developers are clear that they are doing for the best and that their plan is intentional.

Beer4TheBeerGod posted:

My original pledge was $35 just under two years ago during the original campaign. I upped it to $110 last June because I liked the progress CIG was making and they were close to the original goal for being fully funded. I also pledged $20 for a charity upgrade for Veterans Day, and subscribed for $10 a month for 5 months because the money went to funding the community outreach stuff. So about $180, all of which I spent with the intent of funding the game.

At the same time I helped other Goons get packages with Lifetime Insurance. Because I had backed the game so early I had access to packages other players didn't. So they would buy a package, gift it to me, and I would use the credit from that pledge to buy the package they wanted. Typically there were a few dollars in credit left over, and people typically gave me some of that credit as a tip. I ended up helping enough people that I was able to buy an extra $600 "worth" of fake starships. I sold one of them for $300 in January. So I made about $120. I renewed my subscription so it will be a net of zero eventually if I don't sell another package (which I probably will).

How does it feel to be a giant loving idiot with absolutely no common sense. I mean who the hell invest real United States dollars in a fictional video game.

I hesitantly throw my money at anything, especially a project by a developer with a bad history, and sparse details on how the game mechanics will work. If they increase their communication and become more clear on their funding policies, as well as further detailing their game mechanics, I'd possibly consider funding.

As a SC backer i am more than happy to see more space sims out there. First as a revival for the genre, but also to keep CIG focussed on making their game happen.

That being said, i do not like the sound of transverse yet. Maybe with more info i'd change my mind, but not yet.

I dislike pure sandbox games where there's little-to-no content other than what players create. I find players always create the same kind of content really... kill this player, declare war on that guild... etc.

If this game shapes up to be more than eve with cockpits, i might consider it. But it also needs to show that it's capable of desiging it's own original ships. So far the ones on the pledge page seem to be little more than reproportioned and reskinned SC models.

Given more development i can look again and reconsider. But for now it's a pass for me.

FYI proud backer of SC and ED. Prior Eve player...

We are at 7 pages of a good debate with backers of Star Citizen and Transverse.... check it out... at Transverse - A new Crowdfunded - Space MMO

Here is an excerpt from my last post that won the No NPC debate....

"

You have to look at it from the perspective - of the Lore - for the game. Some games like Star Citizen...... is set among the stars where "Empires" flourish... where milliions of inhabitants can be seen (or an illusion with "thousands").... like in Star Wars and Star Trek.

Transverse is set at an earlier time period where humankind is closer to the time of the first interstellar travels (not hundred of years beyond this - like in Star Citizen). In that time period you wouldn't see thousands or millions of people in one area (except in the Starting Area - like Sol - and the Transverse devs clarified they'll have NPCs in the starting area)..... beyond that starting system .... space would feel unnaturally crowded with tons of NPCs standing around or on their predetermined scripted "paper routes".

Another thing to consider is we want to play Star Citizen and let's say "another space MMO"........ well ........ almost everything in Star Citizen is awesome... and many games would want to emulate this awesomeness (Just like all MMO games emulated UO)..... but you want enough difference so it feels and plays like a different game. That is where the brilliance of the Transverse idea comes into play....... the No NPC concept is a revolution in the MMO gamming world....... and a haven for PvPers and Roleplayers alike."
