Gambling losses can be used to lower your taxes. That's why I spend 10k on scratch offs a year. Gotta spend money to save money.

Well one day me and the boys got together over billiards and decided we were sick of paying property taxes for public schools on account of our young'ns not even attendin em cuz y'know we got the private school up on the hill. Anyways long story short, we tricked em into fundin their education system on the backs of fools and the destitute and now the wife can afford to hire John and Josh's tree service to plant that orchard she's always wanted. Ah heck who am I kiddin' did I say John and Josh? I mean't Juan and Jose.

I bought my first scratch off a few months ago, it was fun didn't win anything. Haven't bought any since tho. I buy lotto tickets every once in a while. Its funny cause logically you know you're not winning but theres always that inherent stupid that we all have that says "lol im so winning this ima quit my job and ball the gently caress out"

Hmm this guy made a thread about how the lotto exploits the poor, advocated for communism and decried the total lack of upward social mobility. Next he'll be talking about an unprecedented expansion of the social safety net, what a typical elitist fat cat.

spoiler: all gambling is in favor of the house otherwise nobody would operate a casino or lottery or bingo hall or w/e and you may in fact be the idiot you seek if you think everybody who gambles is an idiot who doesn't understand basic math/probability (people are in fact motivated by other things than economic cost-benefit analysis WHOA)

People exist that regularly have 0 cash available to them for various reasons. This is a thing that happens. Some of those people do play the lottery. That subset of people are unequivocally idiots. Anyone else it's an entertainment expense.

i'm pretty cool with buying a ticket now and then when the jackpot is in the 150million range (so it's not a total sucker's bet), but lol if you actually think this money is going to local schools

It also has a large element of skill mixed with luck and thus, if you're good, you can reliably make money.
