I do not believe there is any intention to portray Sheldon as autistic but if he was, his friends are not helping him at all since they are enablers and always give in and do whatever he wants.

However it would be funny if Penny turns out to be a drug-peddling savant who somehow outsells Bernadette, the genius research microbiologist who was recruited to be a sales rep.
