I love that it emphasises that you're to escort him OUT of the city. Because last dude we hired to get him off-planet is why he's in this mess :v:

Honestly, you'd expect merc outfits to merge on their own due to this pressure.

But hey, giant iron space shooty mans doesn't have to be realistic! :eng101:
Actually the rules for pay and contracts and the like are such that it's drat rare for a merc unit under regiment size to see combat and survive for more than a year. Collapse is the norm.

This is correct. They're also called "Candy Stripers" because of their uniforms, which are supposed to help Civilians understand they need to get out of the way right the gently caress now. The Friendly Persuaders' police tool of choice in nearly every situation is the good old-fashioned automatic shotgun.

Their uniforms exactly are as embarrassing as they sound.

Laughing is a capital offence.

I actually bought an Assassin on one of my first playthroughs to be my main mech. Ended up being okay when I switched out the SRM for another Medium. Fragile as gently caress though.

From what I can see mechwarrior 4 and it's expansions seem to get a lot of dislike, why is that? (I have only played the mercenaries standalone for 4.)
A whole pile of little things that basically made the game seem like a step back after Mechwarrior 3 did things so very well really.

MW3 captured the best mech feel. Things moved right, sounded right, the scale felt right, thing sounded great, mechs seemed to balance right, heavy weapons cratered the landscape, you had the best movement options, the sensors options had the best variety, and the art design was excellent with really good quality especially for the time. Its expansion was pretty solid and also very tough.
With the exception of the expansion part you could basically invert this post and it's a list of reasons why MW4 sucked. Mercs fixed some of it though, and with the MekTek releases it's a legit good game as opposed to awkward and unpleasant to play.

Pay no attention to the bitter old nationalist, he's just annoyed that the Davions are better at leading mans than the Steiners :smugdog:

I like how that has the qualifier of 'most'. I really hope there's a story behind that, or if not that a Goon will come up with one.
There is always a rule for that in Battletech.

Speaking of Tuluk helping me get Mercs 2 running, I'm finding that LRMs seem to actually be really good. I don't know if my copy's bugged, but they seem to consistently deal damage without the issue that lasers have of occasionally clipping or failing to register, and they don't have a minimum range. Heck, they seem to be doing fairly good damage too.
"Minimum range" in every MW game that isn't MWO doesn't result in missiles bouncing off the enemy, it just means they don't lock and track like Streaks IIRC. You can just fire them dumb and they'll still ruin your target's day.
