Ok so someone tell me why they track unsportsmanlike calls, is there a new thing where they kick you out of the game or something? Or maybe I heard the ref wrong, I thought he said specifically that it was Gurley's first unsportsmanlike of the day.

Holy gently caress it is a rulequote:Two unsportsmanlike fouls in the same game. This mimics the two-technical rule in basketball. You're gone if you get two of them in one game. Language has been added to this rule to include an “unsporting foul.” In other words, let's say the first penalty is for roughing the passer but the second foul is for throwing the ball into the stands after a touchdown. That's an “unsporting foul” and gets you thrown out of the game. Remember, it's two in one game. gently caress that, especially if they're calling what Gurley did unsportsmanlike.

kayakyakr posted:Not really. If it is an issue, you could modify it to move the ball the penalty yardage closer, but leave it as 4th and 10. Offensive penalties move it backwards, but don't reset distance. I don't have any numbers to back it up but I'd imagine you'd have to go farther than 10 yards to even the odds out with an expected onside under the old rules. But yeah, they ought to do something like that if they want to take the onside out of the game, which...they do.
