Before we engage we should hang back and study their tactics.
I was wondering if there was going to be a thread for this. I've been looking for one since I signed up back in July.

I started with a modest goal of $100, but I have since ballooned to raising over 6 TIMES that, due to allowing people to choose a game for an hour with a donation of $25. So, of course people have been picking games like Desert Bus, Tapper, Joust and 3 hours in a row of Michael Jackson's Moonwalker in the middle of the night.

So, for a bit of shameless self-promotion, I only have 5 hours left open, if any goons would like to torture me!

I'd also like to pick a random one of you and donate to reciprocate, but I've already donated to, like, 3 people, and my wife and I are trying to close on a house, so spending money may be tight. I'll see what I can do closer to the event, even if it's only $10-15 to one of you.

I've considered doing this in the past and think I'll go ahead and give it a try this year!

I joined Goons Hate Cancer and I'm supporting the Children's Hospital of Pittsburg. If I can get something set up to stream from my Wii U I'll probably play through Bayonetta, as it comes out for Wii U the day before that. In addition I'll probably just take votes and play whatever people want if anyone is actually watching me. I've got a huge steam library of games I've barely touched, so I should have plenty of random weird things to keep me busy for 24 hours.

I was going to correct you and say that Bayonetta 2 doesn't come out until the 28th, but then I realized that Amazon does not yet have Release Date shipping for it. Come on Amazon you can do it! I'll definitely stream that.

I have no real plan for what I'll be playing, but I have plenty of games that you'll probably see but in no particular order. Silent Hill speedruns, The Desolate Hope, possibly play Cards Against Humanity with friends spring to mind off the top of my head. It'll be great!

Alright, OP is updated with new people and donations made. AtrociousToaster and SuccinctAndPunchy earned an extra $5 for supporting Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, thanks you two!

Speaking of Platinum games, the Legend of Korra game comes out Oct. 21st... I may have to drag my PS3 over to my buddy's house to play some of that. Won't be able to stream it though unfortunately. As it stands, I will probably be playing a random assortment of indie titles, maybe some Wasteland 2, maybe some retro SNES/NES games, and some board games with friends to break things up.

OR I'll buy all the DS2 DLC and just play that the whole time.

Thanks for the 5bux, sighnoceros!

I got tentative approval to take Friday the 24th "off" work for the 8 hours they allow towards charitable work. I'm pretty stoked, it works a lot better for the household schedule and keeps it close to the 25th where the bulk of people's playtime will be put in.

I stole a page from Brockton and offered up an hour of gaming for $20 donation. I'm also letting people donate $5 and I'll listen to a song of their choice for 15 minutes on repeat.

I have a hockey game that night so I'll be donating some extra funds based on how that goes (goals, assists, being the reason we get scored on).

Game-wise, unless I get a lot of $20 mandates, I'll likely be on PS4 for the most part. FIFA, NBA, Driveclub, and then I'll likely rent Shadows of Mordor or Last of Us for a story mode.

I'd like to thank Jim for his donation. It's my first one, and hopefully won't be the last.

Speaking of earning donations, part of my schedule planning is to figure out donation incentives for the blocks I'm going to play. I know that the leadup for Mario Party 2 is going to include game length as a goal, so if we reach a certain cumulative amount, the match will have more turns. Maybe bidding for a specific board, if enough people are watching to warrant a bidding war. (I doubt it, but still, it's an idea)

Two other prominent blocks I'm doing include playing random MAME games and awful educational games like Captain Novolin and Rex Ronan Experimental Surgeon. I'm thinking for these, if someone donates, they get to choose the next game to torture me with.

Would anyone be interested in an hour or two of competitive gaming? It doesn't even have to be a competitive game, just something multi-player (or turned in to multi-player).

Stupid stuff is probably better, even. "Head-to-head Surgeon Simulator battles" or something dumb.

We could put small donations on the line. Just kind of tally up small "least blood remaining after a brain transplant gets $1" results and donate $5-10 to each other at the end.

I'd consider joining in on something online with other players. What about a round of Space Station 13? Even better if everyone is as clueless as I am about how to play and we're all just bumbling around accidentally killing ourselves. It's also free so nobody has to buy a game they don't already have.

Hey Sgoast! It's been kind of a mixed bag... so far we're not hitting the same registration numbers as last year in PGH, however it seems like the people who ARE signing up are more interested/motivated this year. We had a decent amount of folks last year who didn't raise anything and not even sure they did the marathon. And on a personal level I've been more focused on managing guild stuff so I'm behind on my donations from last year.

But I'm hopeful the energy I've been seeing will turn into donations! Looks like you're killing it again this year, your team incentives and stuff look great!

On another note just broke my $100 goal. I'm really shocked. I expected my friends to step up. Instead I've had one friend donate some and mostly done by family. Does anyone have any experience with including another live stream in their stream? I'm trying to avoid stopping and starting my stream over and over every time I switch games (PS4 interrupts Twitch streaming to do so and I'd have to do it again if I moved to my PC). I've got my twitch stream integrated into a hitbox stream via OBS but the delay on the twitch feed is like 12 seconds and I can only get OBS to delay my webcam by 8.

Have you considered getting something like an Elgato for the PS4 streaming? I think it's pretty worth it, especially if you decide you might want to stream PS3/Wii U or even 360 games with an HDMI model, and it would let you keep streaming while you switch platforms. The only issue is that there's a noticeable delay where your mic will be ahead of the game content, so you have to throw a buffer in front of both your mic and webcam if using them, but it's not more than a second and a half at least.

Otherwise I'm not sure, honestly.

I've looked at them before, and was considering a capture card when I eventually build a new computer, but I don't think I'll have a hardware solution in time for the 24th. Definitely not gonna go out and grab a $200 piece in the next two weeks, sadly. This would all be a non-issue if NHL15 wasn't a piece of trash on the PS4, I'd have figured things out by September :(

I'll futz with OBS some more and see if I can get the delay sorted out. It does a decent job of taking in my Twitch feed and outputting it to hitbox along with webcam, there just seems to be about a 4 second difference between webcam + twitch even after adjusting the settings in OBS to delay my webcam feed.

I was thinking about grabbing the PS4 camera which would fix my PS4 streaming sync issues but doesn't do anything for stopping/starting whenever I change games.
