trent reznor is pretty much that guy in owl city only instead of writing cutesy platitudes for peppy teens he writes dramatic, sad platitudes for angsty teens

The best album ever is within The Fragile. You just gotta remove some of the bloat. Like most of the second half. But I'll fight you if you don't like "Somewhat Damaged", "We're in This Together", and "Just Like You Imagined" aka the song that tricked me into seeing 300.

Just Like You Imagined + quality sound system full volume = transcendental

The best Reznor work is when he is high as gently caress and has homeless people make sounds into a mic.

The Fragile is amazing and one of my favorite albums, but a little too long. The second disc is more disjointed with a few songs thrown in that don't really fit the concept of the album. I don't really hate songs like "Starfuckers inc", I like them in the same way I like other cheesy Reznor pop songs like "the perfect drug", but I would rather they had been released as singles not messing up otherwise perfect concept albums.

The Fragile loving owns. I heard an interview where Trent admitted that he was drunk/high all the time during the making of that album and went into rehab after. He also didn't enjoy making it because he was too into getting hosed up. This proves that art through adversity is the best creative process, also drugs and booze own.

But yeah by disc 2 its getting a little long and I never really cared for starfuckers either. There's so much other awesome stuff on there that it doesn't bother me.

I thought he made the album on alcohol and maybe some drugs but then it got real bad during the tour, i forget nin lore. I need to find that video where they're playing Even Deeper in japan during fragility 1.0 and he's loving up the whole song and falling down and poo poo.

i don't think being rich and famous and drinking a lot and doing a bunch of blow and loving legions of fat goth chicks really counts as adversity

NIN still owns. I can't really think of an act that peaked in the 90s besides NIN where that is the case. Probably because Reznor is actually very talented.

You should listen to Gary Numan's more recent stuff. Its pretty much the best Nine Inch Nails music since Nine Inch Nails sorta stopped making that stuff.
