-how much is it going to cost when it comes out?
-is it ever coming out?

i think its like an mmo where you fly a spaceship, so kind of like eve online. but its not real, its just vaporware. nevertheless, fools have parted with their money to the tune of 54,000,000 USD on a kickstarter campaign so they can pwn the n00bs once the game is 'finished'

BeefThief

based on my description (an eve clone with a $54M budget) it sounds like it would be fun but i cant seem to find a way to play it. if anybody has any links to a demo or something please help me out.

You can play arena mode if you give them $50 plus whatever for an actual ship

It's better than that. Chris Roberts is a honest to God true believer who really does want to make a game that delivers on all its promises and he's too naive/autistic to understand how in over his head he is so rather than take the money and run he'll just keep working on the game until it completely consumes him and ends in an even bigger trainwreck

kickstarter isn't the problem so much as the whole concept of stretch goals means that feature creep is inevitable. and feature creep kills a lot of projects.

just in terms of why so many of those games are unrealistic (like SC), the whole legality about what happens if someone just bails with the cash aside

-Yes, kinda, but so far it's just an space combat sim in space arenas. More like Unreal Tournament with starfighters instead of the first-person Freelancer MMO with modernized Wing Commander single-player campaign everybody's still waiting for
-Now, if you want to just fly a space fighter around and shoot other space fighter people in a space arena. Nobody knows, if you want to be a space trucker or a space pirate or a space explorer or whatever
-Probably not very much, everybody who's been throwing hundreds of dollars at it have been doing so to "buy" better ships than the starter ship without having to earn them in-game, or to "support the development" or both
-Nobody knows for sure if they're ever going to finish the Freelancer/Wing Commander parts of the game although it seems like they're sure spending a lot of time and money on it

my husband's cousin had a kickstarter to do a claymation thing and he actually did it and that is the only successful kickstarter I know of (the amount was like $2000 to help pay for voice actors and an editor)
