my towers were basically 100% offices with food courts in the lobby levels and a hotel at the top so unfortunately it has little replay value

lol if you didn't have your hotels on the lower levels so you could run one service elevator to the recycling centers and also have it serve your hotels so you don't have to waste one of your limited elevators on a second service elevator

just lol

~Coxy posted:

i never understood anything about that elevator shaft properties dialog except setting the home floor of the cars, which made at least a little sense

standard floor departure explains itself, it's how long the elevator waits before moving

floors closer than moving cars means if there is a car waiting within X floors, the stationary car will take it, otherwise a moving car will take it

lower numbers = more cars moving at a time

~Coxy posted:

you can do this in Yoot Tower and I think they have sky bridges too

problem being all these are magic numbers that you just have to mess with and see if wait times get worse or better
or maybe I just sucked

yeah and you could set it for like 6 or 8 different time periods on weekdays and also 6 or 8 different time periods on weekends

elevators were the worst part of sim tower

also i never found an answer to this: a sim won't take more than 2 elevators, or one other method (stairs/escalator) then elevator so it's literally impossible to get from a non-express elevator floor to another non-express elevator floor

like i managed to figure that out as a child, but the game still throws warming messages like "people on floor 3 can't get to floor 37" when it's literally impossible in the game mechanics

i never figured out the simulate option, it seemed like it just paused the game

i remember the first time i got to 60,000 people in simcity 2000 and got the military base reward. i was so excited to get a cool air base and have the fighter jets. but then apparently i didn't have enough free land so they gave me a missile silo instead. i was 7 or 8 years old and i literally cried

it's not how much space you have iirc, it's the general topography

very mountainous = missile silos, coast = navy base, etc

are you referring to the cash doubling trick? it's not a lobby, it's just your first click within the game window

also if you have a 2-star tower you can build a 2x3 set of fast food restaurants underground and instantly find the buried treasure

doesn't work if you have three stars though

i had no problem with streets vs. roads or two sizes of police station because these are actually things that have to be dealt with and balanced in real cities

but that doesn't make a fun game

it would be like taking a break from a starcraft battle and having to play a mini game where you go to the widow's house every time a marine is killed in battle

it's more accurate at the direct expense of fun

I'm not seeing how it makes the game any less fun actually

it's a simulation game. would you say that a flight simulator is less fun if it requires you to hit the right speeds and set your flaps properly on landing than if you can just point the plane at the ground and press forwards?

for a general audience? absolutely. i would say that's the reason saints row is more popular than x-plane.
