I miss the endless variety of jokes but do not miss the endless flood of piss, poo poo, puke, hot garbage, lovely roach-infested overpriced apartments, sounds traveling up skyscrapers and through your window, lack of central AC, and waiting 2 hours for the 4 train after midnight. I was born and raised in FYAD, and as soon as college was over I ran from the place screaming.

I'm over in PYF today and I'm lollin at how it is here vs. FYAD. Pro life posts, pro God posts, gun posts everywhere, hell the NRA runs pro 2nd amendment threads on stickies (nice thread today btw g0m). I saw wind turbines for the first time in my life. Went through the radio, no hip hop stations. There's a place called Templo Del Perro. People was talking German on the goddamn radio. I'm lovin it  Gotta escape the nanny handout state.

47 year resident of Queens here. Get out of the City proper and out to the boroughs. Here in Queens, we have the foods, the people, and the cultures. We have Astoria Studios where the Cosby show was filmed. We have Silvercup studios where The Sopranos and movies like the Highlander were filmed. Hell, I live 4 blocks from where Jack Kerouac lived and began writing his famous book. Also places like Steinway Pianos are here and still in full swing. We have actual ethnic Neighborhoods with real authentic foods from Germany, Poland, Italy, Russia, China, Japan and more. Then you have Brooklyn, which is legendary. Everyone has heard of Brooklyn, which borders Queens. Another great place of diversity and foods. The Bronx and Staten Island are worlds of their own. And if you want to get "away", there's Long Island and Montauk Point's famous lighthouse. Queens is really the base of Long Island, and many consider Queens a part of it. Get out of Manhattan and branch out and see where the real FYAD is. Twitter sucks balls and I avoid it.

Living in the outer boroughs sucks because you get many of the worst parts of the city (the apartments are still overpriced, it still smells like urine and garbage, crowds and bad tempers galore) but now you have to tack on an 8 year train ride to get to any place worth visiting and for the most part, sacrifice the cool cultural/artistic/ethnic food part. I guess if you're a Williamsburg hispter coasting on daddy's funds it's different, but if I ever had some weird urge to move back into the city and caught a disease that caused me to hemorrhage money I'd move to the upper West side or something.

Now I post with the lower-middle class (basically noobs) and there's still a substantial amount of garbage in the threads. It's amazing because you are never more than like 20 posts away from a garbage can, and you probably shouldn't bring gross post garbage with you in a thread if your only option is leaving it on the floor of the forum or tossing it into byob like an animal. Basically I'm all for gentrification since I'll probably be able to afford it anyway.
