This guy I knew killed himself by jumping to the ground from his home. Strange thing was he had good job and hot girlfriend. He left everything he had in his suicide note to his girlfriend.

If he had even a single family member then this sort of thing is going to court and staying there, until the balance of the entire estate is eaten up by legal fees causing the lawyers to stop milking it as a meal ticket. No joke, it happens. Leaving everything to someone in a suicide note, or even a hastily penned will written while doped up on morphine, is just full of legal holes, yet sits right within a sort of grey area that can be argued upon, each side having valid arguments. You can take this thing and stand in front of a judge for hours on end just yelling the same thing over and over, and end the day ten thousand dollars richer. Legally the suicide note side doesn't have much of a legal leg to stand on, unless no other will turns up (and how many people have proper wills, really?), then it really comes down to who's lawyer has the greater vocal stamina. tl;dr: You put this poo poo in front of a solicitor and his pupils turn into dollar signs. So, good job loving your family and hot girlfriend over even more, rear end in a top hat. Edit: So if you kill yourself, get your affairs in order. Do a loving will, hey you're going to kill yourself anyway so pay some lawyer a couple of hundred to do most of it for you and notarize it and keep a copy safe and act as your executor. And no, it doesn't seem suicide-y for a young dude to go get a will done. And even if it did, hey, lawyer-client confidentiality, they're not like doctors who'll call the cops if they think you're going to off yourself, unless they see a profit in it. Euthanasia is legal in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Assisted suicide, where the patient has to take the final action themselves (unlike euthanasia), is legal in the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Switzerland. So if you wanna kill yourself, make a trip to Europe where they got proper systems for this stuff instead of splatting yourself on the pavement from some dumb jump or blowing your brains out somewhere or something so bystanders have to look at your gross corpse and some poor guy have to clean your mess up

Why should the government have to subsidise people making a certain choice? If people want to kill themselves they should bootstrap themselves over and over up to the top of a tall building, then let God's gravity (which is only a theory) carry them to hell. And if bystanders can't take the sight of a little blood and gore then they're not true Americans. They can always choose to look away, anyway. And those who are paid minimum wage to clean up the spilled guts and brain matter should be happy they even have a steady job. Edit: the only job steadier than providing food to fat people to stuff their faces with is cleaning up their corpses afterwards.
