The sad truth of 9/11 is America really will need to adopt republican foreign policies to prevent another attack on that scale, which means any democrat president will have to betray his convictions and this layer of betrayal will make things all that more painful for him and the people who voted for him. A republican president would be more morally consistent because everyone expects a republican president to have warmongering foreign policies and republicans are jerks so people feel more comfortable hating them, and they're used to it so they can take it just like Batman can except they really are the protectors America needs right now
