Get the subspace teleporter and black hole generator, then send a cheap ship with nothing but these items to every planet every turn.

Mange Mite posted:unnecessarily complicated. it doesnt really add much to the game it's just there. its a preview of the pointless micromanagement which eventually swamps all 4x games High food production was what made terra, ocean and gaia planets great. One guy could feed an army of workers and/or scientists. You could use a mineral-poor terra world to feed all the other planets in its system so they could produce ships on mineral-rich barren worlds. Extra food was sold off automatically without the player having to do anything. (THAT MEANS IT WASN'T COMPLICATED OR MICROMANAGEMENT IN ANY WAY). The races that didn't eat food and the races that ate half a food and half a production were radically, drastically different from regular races in a cool unique way. Managing food production on the big colony grid screen was tard-rear end simple - you could reassign any number of guys by clicking the mouse button two times. You could also ship them to other planets. Your freighter fleet moved food around where it was needed perfectly without you having to order them to (THAT MEANS IT WASN'T COMPLICATED OR MICROMANAGEMENT IN ANY WAY). Being awesome at food could move you ahead a quantum leap. You're dumb and wrong hhhhhhhhhhtttttttttttthhhhhhhhhhhhhh Edit: Fun list of things that are more complicated than the food mechanic: Building Ships Fleet communication crap The Galactic Council Edit: Fun list of things you could say are "just there" with the same devastating insight absolutely everything in the entire game lllllllloooooooooolllllllllllllll Tujague fucked around with this message at 18:24 on Oct 22, 2014 |

Being awesome at food could move you ahead a quantum leap. moo1 had most of that gameplay without a separate food system. i dont think it really added anything the fact that "being awesome at it" i.e. doing fiddly micro was a huge benefit is a strike against it, not for it. it's just an unnecessary complication for a game that's otherwise played at a very large scale. I'm assuming it's mostly there for more race differentiation but tehre's plenty of other ways to do that too. OXBALLS DOT COM fucked around with this message at 18:30 on Oct 22, 2014 |

MOO2 was better than MOO1 until late game where micromanaging colonies really started to bog things down. MOO1 had superior music though.
