It works fine on my wood desk, but as soon as it touches the mousepad, no matter what I do, it only moves diagonally. Have tried multiple mousepads. Please help.

I'm a moron, didn't read the sticky, and have now fixed it. I had tried cleaning the laser, but after trying it again more thoroughly, it is now fixed. Sorry for this lovely thread
